The Monarch of Oren (High Imperial: Regnator Orenorum, literally: "Ruler of the Humans") of the ruler of Oren in either of its two forms: kingdom or empire. Both titles have faded in and out of existence, although the Kingdom of Oren is the far older title, dating back to Exalted Horen and the dawn of history, whereas the Holy Orenian Empire dates back to Ex. Godfrey's reunification of Mankind in 1379. Although Holy Orenian Emperors have almost invariably styled themselves as Kings of Oren in addition to their imperial title, usually only those monarchs who made no claim to the Empire are referred to as Kings of Oren. Examples of such kings include Heinrik Carrion, Andrik Vydra, Olivier de Savoie, and Guy de Bar, all of whom having believed that the imperial title could only be claimed by the prophets. Other kings, such as William I and Frederick I, abolish the imperial title in recognition of a weakening of the realm.
This list shall include all rulers of an independent Oren, both the kings and emperors.
Oren has traditionally been a hereditary autocracy, although there have been rulers who were appointed, and others were even elected. The dynasty that has held the title has also changed back and forth considerably. The first monarch of Oren was Exalted Horen, the first human man as one of the sons of the first coupling.
The consort of the monarch of Oren is known as either the Queen of the Orenians or the Holy Orenian Empress consort.
The title of the 'King of Oren' has belonged to members of House Horen, Perea, Sheffield, Carrion, Van Roy, Chivay, Vydra, Ashford de Savoie, Ashford de Bar, Marna, Cascadia, Joannes, Helane and Novellen. The title of the 'Holy Orenian Emperor' has belonged to members of House Horen, Carrion, Chivay, Marna, Cascadia, Joannes, Helane and Novellen.

The Silence
A great many Kings of Oren, claimants, collapses, and re-unifications of the country followed in the many centuries following Ex. Owyn's death, but the history of this period has turned to mere myths and legend. While much is known, far too little can be ascertained to compile a list of true Orenian monarchs in this period.

Siegmund's firstborn son and heir, Otto, and his wife, Isabelle Horen, were slain by Godfrey's daughter, Sophia Horen, in the first Horen Rebellion. Otto had been given the Kingdoms of Renatus and Salvus as his insurance of inheritance. Therefore, when Otto died, Siegmund united the thrones of Renatus-Salvus with Ruska under Otto's 10 year old heir and his Grand-Heir, Otto II. He thus created the Kingdom of Oren beneath the Holy Orenian Empire, the only time the kingdom has existed as an entity simultaneously with the Empire. Otto, being a boy, was hardly responsible, and he would soon take holy rites, leaving the throne to his brother Godfrey II.

King Andrik Vydra, coronated as King of Akovia two years after the fall of Oren in the Schism War, gained acclaim rapidly, being declared King of Oren in 1491. His kingdom's succession was elective, and thus the next set of kings would all be of differing houses. However, the Ashford dynasty soon held its ground in the forms of the House de Savoie and House de Bar.

Robert of Marna, the second and last surviving son of John III, Holy Orenian Emperor, seized the title of Lord Protector of Oren and established a stable government in the wake of John V's death. The Lord Protector was overthrown by the scheming of the King of Hanseti-Ruska, Stephen I and other powerful vassals. His other nephew, Peter II, ascended to the throne upon his resignation, continuing the Sixth Empire as it had begun.

The Emperors of Man are not included in this list because they did not style themselves as Kings of Oren or Holy Orenian Emperors. However, for ease of access, they shall be briefly listed, especially due to the arguable High Imperial translation of the 'Empire of Man' to 'Imperator Orenorum'.
The War of Two Emperors (1715-1718)
The House of Horen-Marna proclaimed their right and ascension to the Imperial throne of the Holy Orenian Empire after Emperor Antonius of Man's much-contested dissolution of the Empire of Man in the prelude to the War of Two Emperors. They would, however, lose the civil war after the siege of Helena, failing to achieve recognition for their claim.

The Young Monarchs (1720-1725)
The House of Cascadia was a branch of the dissolved House of Horen, led by Godfrey II of Cascadia. The reign of Godfrey II began upon the triumphant end of the War of Two Emperors, where he was declared the true Holy Orenian Emperor soon after his victory. Under his rule, the eighth imperium was established. After his reign his younger brother John VII ascended the imperial throne but only ruled for a year before declaring the empire a democracy and abdicating the throne.

The Eighth Empire (1725-1868)
Selected as compromise candidates for the throne by High Pontiff Daniel VI, the House of Joannes were ostensibly an off-shoot of the Houses of Horen (Johannian) and Marna. However, after the death of their only monarch, the family were alleged to be bastards of Cesarina Louise and Laertes de Falstaff. However, the opposing argument contends that these claims by Laertes de Falstaff were likely encouraged by the new Lord Protector, Adrian de Sarkozy, as a way of asserting his nascent government's legitimacy. Immediately after the protectorate, Peter III rose to rebrand Oren and the Empire into a centralized absolute state with Adrian principles of republicanism. His daughter's Novellen dynasty would rule Oren for the next half-century, the longest reigning direct line of monarchs since the Johannian Horens.
