The House of Sarkozic (Common: Sarkozy; High Imperial: Saroces; Raevir: Sarkozic) is a human noble family of ancient origins. The first noble ruler of the house was Saint Adrian de Sarkozy, whose only child Helaine married the soothsayer Exalted Sigismund Carrion, who took on the name Sarkozic and became its patriarch. His legitimate sons would maintain the name Sarkozic Carrion, though as a line within the broader Carrion Dynasty. It was not until after the diminishing of the Carrion Dynasty that Victor var Otto Sarkozic, youngest son of Ostromir Sarkozic Carrion (commonly Otto the Terrible) who was firstborn legitimate son of Sigismund, that House Sarkozic as its own political and familial entity emerged.

History

Norfolk and Aldersberg

In the north of Anthos a chancellor of the White Rose named Hadrien de Sarkozy (commonly St Adrian) established the County of Norfolk and within it the city of Aldersberg. Here with the aid of one Toveah Goldman (commonly St Tobias of Aldersberg) he brought about a prosperous industrial trade hub. He led his family to great prominence during his reign and Aldersberg would never know empty streets; for before it could slowly fall to desolation a meteor struck it, sent as a sign from St Tobias in the Seven Skies. Hadrien's only child would marry Sigismund Carrion, who took on the name Sarkozic as he fulfilled his destiny as the black prince and became the fourth prophet of the Canon. Throughout the Carrion Vochna, the legitimate children of Sigismund would maintain the name Sarkozic as a sign of their close familial connection to the great soothsayer, and in its aftermath they would establish themselves as their own noble house.

The Birth of Adria

In the realm of Athera the Sarkozics began to disguise themselves under the name Montfort in their dealings with Heartlanders. Through growing influence they established the Barony of Eastcliff on the edge of Athera, and would begin to cooperate with their cousin Carrion House the Vladovics to consolidate in the east. Together they created the March of Adria, therefore setting a cornerstone of Sarkozic legacy.

The Emperor and Empress

Joseph Clement Sarkozy, born as the eldest son of Adrian Sarkozy, the Duke of Adria; married the Empress in-line Anne I. As the two had married, the younger brother Peter Sarkozy continued the line of Sarkozy as his nephew Emperor Joseph II had created the House of Novellen when he married Empress Anne I. This split made House of Novellen a cadet-branch to the House of Sarkozic. This split between the Houses created a distance between the two; for the Cadet-House of Novellen was tasked to create the Heirs to the Holy Orenian Empire and another to grow the family but without any titles that could be granted to them.

The Arch-Chancellor

Born on the 11th of the Horen’s Calling, 1741, Franz Nikolai served the Empire well as a soldier, statesman and Sarkozy. Franz rose the ranks to become Vice Chancellor under Jonah Stahl-Elendil in the Josephite party. Having a fruitful career, his wife Marie Rosieres gave birth to Franz’ firstborn son, Tobias. Franz Nikolai married Johanna I, Queen of Sutica, as she would later give birth to a son of their marriage; Prince Adolf Gloriana de Sarkozy of Sutica.

Head of House Sarkozic

The House of Sarkozic had various outcomes upon succession of the House, due to the House of Sarkozic having many members and thus there often came conflict on the conclusion of a rightful heir. Currently there remain two lines; that of Elenavich-Sarkozic which held the title of Pompourelia since the time of the Petrine Empire and that of Sarkozic var Adria, which although for generations was separate from the Counts of Pompourelia only made distinction upon their restoration of the Duchy of Adria. Only the latter line within Adria remains with landed status, though prevalent Sarkozics exist across the realm.
