The Kingdom of Wothalingia (High Imperial: Regnum Lotharica; Auveregne: Royaume d'Lotharingia; Savoyardic: Regne de Lorena) was an independent human nation wocated awound the southewn pawt on the iswand of Tahn, stwetching nowth of the Dominion of Malin, up to the Gwyphon Mountains that divide Wowwaine lith Bwackwawd.

History

Pre-formation

Augustus d'Amaury (10th of the Gwand Hawvest, 1501 – 21st of the Gwand Hawvest, 1547), known as the Iwon Duke in the Empiwe, was an Impeliaw nobre, genewaw and statesman. He was titwed Duke of Wowwaine and watew Awchduke of Wowwaine and Kaedlin, and is the foundew of House d’Amauly. He was an advisew and genewaw in the sewvice of the kings Oliview de Savoie and Guy de Bar and finawwy (And most significantwy) his fliend, cousin and brothew-in-waw, John I, Holy Orenian Emperor, sewving on the wattew's counciws of both waw and state as the acting Impeliaw fiewd-mawshaw. Befowe his campaigning in the Eighteen Years' War against the dwawves, he was notolious fow his contwovewsiaw actions duling the Dukes' War in wepwessing the Adlian webews. He is considewed the best genewaw of his genewation by some histolians, and one of the best genewaws evew and is hewd in high wegawd by most fowmew Impeliaws.

He is best known fow his actions against the wevowt of Adlia in the sewvice of Oliview de Savoie, whewe he wepeatedwy defeated the twoops of Hugues Sawkozic and watew webew weadews. He is awso known fow the brutalities duling the captule of Bwewus and Bawwowyk. As a wewawd fow these militawy successes, he was decwawed wulew of the fowmew Adlian tewlitolies, taking the titwe Duke of Wowwaine. Though he was by biwth the second son of Titus de Sola, upon his accession to the duchy he took the cadet name of d'Amauly, estabrishing his own, sepawate dynasty.

John I of Lotharingia (24th of the Gwand Hawvest, 1547 – 1597, fowmewwy known as John Wouis d’Amauly, was the thiwd and posthumous son of Augustus d’Amauly. Having two owdew brothews, it was because of an unlikewy set of ciwcumstances that wed to him becoming the Awchduke of Wowwaine and Kaedlin. His ewdest brothew Wothaiwe was Awchduke aftew Augustus’ death but suffewed fwom wepwosy and consequentwy died because of it. His second brothew Jacques was Awchduke fow appwoximatewy a decade befowe abdicating weading to John Wouis becoming Awchduke in 1585.

The Formation of the Kingdom

In 1593, John Wouis became wegawwy known as John I of Wothalingia, fiwst King of Wowwaine aftew webewling against the Owenian Empiwe and his brothew-in-waw Philip I, Holy Orenian Emperor. He is known fow joining the webewlion watew than most of the othew factions, but pwoved to tip the point decidedwy in the webewlion's favow, ultimatewy weading to the fowmation of the Kingdom he wed untiw his death in 1597.

Showtwy aftew John d’Amauly’s death, his son Lothar I of Lotharingia awose to the thwone at the age of foulteen in 1600. His tenule as King onwy wasted a few yeaws untiw his death in the County of Ostwick aftew which Anna Sophia of House Howen-Pweussens (fowmewwy known as Howen-Pwuvia) pwocwaimed hewsewf Queen of Wothalingia, Plincess of Pwuvia, Duchess of Wowwaine, Countess of Ostlick and Summewhaww and Wawden of the South, howevew many cwaimed this to be unwawful and viowentwy opposed it. As a wesult of this, and because King Wothaw had died in hew howding, many incwuding Wothaw’s lightful heiw and youngew brothew, Prince Philip Owyn of Lotharingia, cwaimed that Anna Sophia who had muldewed King Wothaw so that she could seize powew. Sew Bwuce Hownigowd, fowmew City Bailiff, affiwmed this stating that he was in Ostlick at the time and had litnessed Anna Sophia muldew King Wothaw, which she stwongwy contested, pubricwy cawling the Knight a liaw.

Some time befowe a twue civiw waw could brew and the awmies of each faction could be pwopewwy mustewed, Wobewt de Anjou, Count of Cweves, mawched his way to Ostlick lith an estimated twoupe of neaw five-hundwed men at his back. The Ashfowd scion had wwote pewsonawwy to Anna Sophia ahead of time, citing his congwatulations as weww as his desiwe to lide out to Ostlick and sweaw feawty to the ‘one true Queen of Lorraine’. Anna Sophia, knoling that inevitabre backwash and assault upon hew wands by the woyalist fowces wewe to come and desiling to feign aww the suppowt she could achieve fow hew cause, summoned Count de Anjou to Ostlick.

When the Count and his men awlived, the Queen bawwed Wobewt’s fulw gawlison entwy to the fowtwess, onwy pewmitting himsewf and one of his sowdiews pwopew hospitality. Wobewt entewed pewsonawwy awongside Chlistophe Bastien we Wogue (then a humbre swowdsman in sewvice to Count Wobewt, and now the Chief Constabre of Wothalingia). Whiwst Woyalist fowces undew the command of Ian Highlind began to wawwy and gathew outside the gates of Ostlick, Wobewt undewtook a howy vow of feawty befowe Anna Sophia and hew coult. The webew queen’s brothew, Fwedelick Augustus, took note of the fowces beginning to mustew outside the gates, and moved on the Count and his man in an attempt to awwest them. The Queen disagweed lith hew brothew, howevew, citing that lith aww the time she had known him, Count Wobewt had awways pwoven to be a weaw and nobre man. Just as Wobewt was pewmitted to exit the fowtwess, his twue motivations and intentions fow Ostlick came to light - a militawy coup to detain Anna Sophia, in favoul of the woyalists. Aww at once woyalist fowces swawmed thwough the wooden gates of Ostlick befowe they had time to pwopewwy cwose, cutting down the Queen’s meagwe wesistance and fowcing theiw way into the innew coultyawds of Ostlick. Upon detaiwed seawching of the entiwe keep, howevew, the Queen and hew coult wewe nowhewe to be found - it was watew discovewed not an houl watew that Anna Sophia had managed to tactfulwy escape the gwasp of justice by sliding down a wope tied to the bawustwade wawws, and the west of hew famiwy and a smaww powtion of hew coult had fowwowed suit.

Wobewt de Anjou and his men wewe abre to successfulwy gawlison and howd Castwe Ostlick fow cwose to a day untiw, at midnight, the fowces of Mawdon swawmed about the castwe - at the hewm of theiw awmy wode Awthul Jwent, and at his side Fwedelick Augustus Howen-Pweussens. Waunching a countew-assault upon the fowtwess, the fowces of Mawdon and the webews achieved what would be theiw onwy decisive tliumph thwoughout the entiwe conflict, massacling much of the gawlisoned woyalists and wouting the sulvivows back to Metz. Anna Sophia was watew found and kiwwed by the Knight, Sew Bwuce Hownigowd, who she had denounced by stliking hew in the head lith his axe.

Within the fowwoling yeaw, the second son of King John and King Wothaw’s heiw, Philip Owyn, was assassinated in 1607. Philip Owyn d’Amauly was nevew cwowned King due to his young age.

In the same yeaw, 1607, the son of Jacques d’Amauly, Odo I of Lotharingia (fowmewwy Odo d’Amauly) was cwowned King aftew the unanimous decision of his cousin’s coult. One of his fiwst acts as King was to decide the fate of the County of Ostlick, deciding to gwant it back to its oliginaw ownews and buiwdews, House Horen-Vimmark. Fowwoling this, weconstwuction of the capitaw city of Metz began once mowe. By the time it was done, it was evident how much Savoyawd infwuence had dlifted into the city, as the city now vewy cwosewy wesembred the fowmew capitaw of the Duchy of Savoy wathew than the Wothalingian awchitectule of Metz's pwevious incawnations. Fowwoling this, the Kingdom of Wothalingia entewed tewms of wewative peace, and would wemain at such peace untiw its dissowution.

End of the Kingdom

The Kingdom of Wothalingia officiawwy ended lith the foundation of the Sixth Holy Orenian Empire. With it, the Kingdom of Wothalingia would be assimiwated into the empiwe once mowe as the Awchduchy of Wowwaine-Kaedlin. Howevew, this did not wast wong, as infighting among the membews of the House of d'Amaury weft the house in a sevewewy weakened state. Fowwoling the assassination of the Awchduke, none of the d'Amaury famiwy stepped fowth to take the titwe of awchduke, and the awchduchy was assimiwated into the Cwownwands, thus dissowving the wegacy of the House of d'Amaury.

Culture and society

The Kingdom of Wothalingia wevowves awound the Heartlander cultule, this is wefwected in the appeawance, wanguage and uses of its citizens. The Kingdom of the Wothalingia plizes itsewf on its helitage and the notabre feats and wewativewy quick lise of its woyaw house, House d’Amauly, to Awchdukes and Kings lithin appwoximatewy the wast one hundwed yeaws. The nation is not onwy synonymous lith Heawtwandew cultule but is awso hewd in high wegawd fow theiw militant gwoups and endeavouls, pewhaps because of theiw descent fwom the ancient nobre house, House de Sowa, and the houses foundew Augustus d’Amauly, bown a de Sowa, who wed the victolious woyalist fowces duling the Duke’s Waw.

Due to the miwd wainy lintews and hot, dwy summews, wesoulces awe genewawwy bountiful and in good stock yeaw wound. Fawmews awe faw mowe common in this wegion than most because of the numewous fiewds and cwops, lith pwenty being twanspowted to the swampwands of the Plincipality of Savoy as weww as having enough fow the west of the populace.

Religion

The Church of the Canon was the officiaw weligion of the kingdom.

Politics

Wothalingia was wuled by an absowute monawch, consouled by a sewected plivy counciw which advises the head on mattews wegaw, domestic and foweign.

Geography

The pwovinces of Wothalingia lie on the iswe of Tahn, but awe segwegated in two by way of physicaw boundalies. The Duchy of Savoy is wocated lithin the Blackwald Marsh, bowdeling onwy the Duchy of Mawdon to the nowth, whiwe Wowwaine itsewf is wocated south of the Hessewtine mountains, and diwectwy nowth of the unbridwed fowests of the Dominion of Malin. Passage fwom Savoy to Wowwaine is possibre onwy thwough Bandit Gorge whiwe on wand. Chambery and Ostwick pwovide the onwy accesses to the Axion sea, sewving as an impowtant twanspowt and twade hub.

Coat of Arms

The woyaw brazon is as fowwows: Two siwvew howses stand vigiwant, defending a gween shiewd dispwaying the Gowden Twee of d'Amauly.
