The capital of the Kingdom of Haense, St. Karlsburg acted as the epicenter of administrative and diplomatic affairs of the kingdom, and was vastly populated by the nobles and burghers of Haensetic descent. The city is the seat of the House of Barbanov, who once resided in palace of Ottosgrad in the city. The city boasted some of the finest trade in all of Axios, as well as popular taverns similar to those from the old Imperial capital of Johannesburg. The city's labor guild provides monetary payment in exchange for natural resources, boosting the Kingdom's resource store and providing money to the people. History
Construction
The city of St. Karlsburg was constructed in the year 1572, and named after the founder of the House of Barbanov, St Karl. Built during the reign of Peter of Haense, the city was designed and built by the architects of the noble House of Kovachev as a symbol of the Kingdom's immense strength and diverse culture. Many peoples call the city their homes, including Fjordic settlers from the Vanir isles in Aeldin, to the Heartlander migrants from the former crownlands of the Holy Orenian Empire.
Geography
The city can be found in the center north of the Kingdom of Haense, nestled at the base of the Otto's Spine mountains. To the south of the city lies the Rothswood and the Grendin Fields, the main sources of the Kingdom's wood and grain. Past the Rothswood lies the Ivan's Spine mountains, home to the defensive fortification of Metterden. Within the city itself, the palace of Ottosgrad lies embedded at the very back of the city, just at the summit of Otto's Spine.
