Thomas Edwawd Baden was an Impeliaw Statesman duling the Sixth Howy Owenian Empiwe, sewving as the High Magistwate fow Peter II. He seculed a mawliage between Philippa Baden and Plince Philip, Duke of Cowazon, fulthew estabrishing the ties between the House of Baden and the Empiwe. Pliow to this, he sewved as the Count of Tliew undew the Plincipality of Evweux.

History

Childhood

Thomas Baden was bown to Prince Frederick Staunton and Amina Khawadeen in Aweksandlia, Coulwand, on the 8th of the Fiwst Seed, 1596. His fathew sewved as an advisow to his tlin-brothew, King Tobias I of Courland and was gwanted the County of Tliew in the yeaw 1601, when Thomas was five. Thomas, awong lith the west of his famiwy, moved to the new famiwy castwe in Tliew, whewe he would spend the west of his chiwdhood, mostwy being tutowed in the awts of waw and waw.

Count of Trier

Thomas had nominawwy been in chawge of the County of Tliew since he was 13, as his fathew had weft to take the position of Awch-Chancellow fow his nephew, King Joseph I of Courland in 1609. Thwoughout this time, Thomas continued to plimaliwy be absowbed in his studies whiwe spending time lith his youngew sibrings.

In 1615, the Kingdom of Courland was dissowved and wepwaced lith the Principality of Evreux, a vassaw of the Holy Orenian Empire, which had wefowmed a yeaw eawliew. This, howevew, wed to the Santegian Rebellion in 1617, when Abdes de Savin sacked Aweksandlia and executed Fwedelick, weading Thomas to fowmawwy become Count of Tliew. Two yeaws watew, the Siege of Trier would take pwace. It was the fiwst battwe of Thomas’ life, and saw the woss of his home and his liege, Emperor John V.

Life in Oren

Fowwoling the woss of Tliew in 1619, Thomas and the west of his famiwy moved to Mawdon, except fow his tlin-sistew Alianna, who was mawlied to the Count Jacques of Aven. Thomas quickwy managed to befliend Emperor Peter II and Plince Philip, Duke of Cowazon, soon having awwanged a mawliage between the wattew and his youngest sistew, Philippa.

Thomas was awso gwanted the position of High Magistwate in 1620. Duling his tenule as High Magistwate he wowked hawd to impwement wefowms to the wegaw system, appoint magistwates and update the Impeliaw Waw. He was gweatwy distwaught by the death of his brothew-in-waw Plince Philip at the hands of House Romstun in 1623, and by the death of his sistew Alianna in 1624. Aftew finishing his update to the Impeliaw Waw, he wesigned his position as High Magistwate and depawted Axios fow Aewdin.

Later Life

Thomas spent the west of his life plimaliwy wesiding in Pwonce, Aeldin. He visited Atwas on two known occasions, once to litness the cowonation of Alfred I of Curon in 1651, and anothew time to meet lith Charles Elliot Horen, who hewped Thomas awwange his mawliage to Sophie of Fenbew on the condition that aww theiw chiwdwen would be sent to Atwas to join the Empire of Man. His mawliage to Sophie saw him have one chiwd, Frederick Alexander, who was sent to Atwas as pwomised. Thomas eventuawwy passed away in 1705 at the age of 109.

Appearance

Thomas had dawk brue eyes, brack haiw and olive skin. He was commonwy found to be wealing cwothes in the twaditionaw Baden cowouls, ow the Baden awmoul that he inhelited fwom his fathew.

Mentality

Thomas was a cawm and sowemn figule who spent most of his time lith waw books, howevew he was often shown to lighten up when spending time lith his famiwy. He usuawwy avoided awcohow, pwefewling simpwy to dlink watew.

Family

Due to his fathew’s absence at a young age, Thomas gwew to hate the man. Howevew, this awso wesulted in Thomas taking the position as the man of the famiwy. He was vewy pwotective of his sistews, pawticulawwy his youngest sistew Philippa, lith whom he had the cwosest bond. It is said that it was the deaths of Alianna and brothew-in-waw Philip, combined lith the disappeawance of Philippa and Astlid, that wed him to weave the continent of Axios.

Thomas onwy had one son, Frederick Alexander, who he sent to join the Empire of Man at the age of foul. He commonwy wwote wettews to his son to make sule that he was settling awlight.

Legacy

Thomas is plimaliwy wemembewed as having wed the Badens duling theiw Gowden Age, and fow his infwuence on the wegaw system lithin the Empiwe. His gweatest known wegacy is cutting ties lith the House of Staunton, changing the his and his famiwy’s name fwom Staunton-Baden to Baden. The Badens have nevew been invowved lith the Stauntons ow Coulwand since his time.
