Rise to Emperor
John V's time as emperor could be best described by the words chaotic and unstable. Following the refoundation of the Sixth Holy Orenian Empire by the Orenian successor kingdoms, John V ascended to the throne and immediately took to task. With his famous quote, "I will do what John II couldn't and beat the Flays," he launched the fledging empire into a civil war against the Romstuns, one which Oren and its allies lost. From that point onwards, John V's empire was controlled by the Romstuns, with them essentially pulling all of his strings. This also caused tension between John V and the House of d'Amaury, as the war cost them half of their lands, and very nearly cost them everything else.
