Henrik I Amador was the Count of Gravelhold & Patriarch of the House of Amador between 1620 - 1634, during the years following the Great Northern War, when many Haenseni émigrés found work in the Southern Realms after the destruction of their homeland. He was an Acting Marshal of the Sixth Imperium of the Holy Orenian Empire under Peter II, Holy Orenian Emperor, however, following a disagreement with his Imperial Highness, Henrik I resigned his baton and fought in the War of the Beards where he was one of the first to fall.

Early Years

Henrik was born in Barony of Mondstadt in the 1603 to Baron Owyn Amador and Adrijana Kovechev. The first born son of the Baron, young Henrik was born in a time ill-suited to the upbringing of a Hanseti-Ruskan Noble as the Great Northern War against the Kingdoms of Santegia & Courland raged. A year into their lives, Henrik and his twin met their father again; Owyn had lost his left hand and had it replaced with an iron gauntlet. House Amador did not fair well in the war, losing the Barony of Mondstadt, forcing the family to begin a sad transition from its Northern home to the South.

Henrik and his younger Twin-brother, Ruslan Amador, spent the beginning of their childhood down South in the Kingdom of Lotharingia, a Southern Canonist Kingdom that had previously broken away from the fifth iteration of the Holy Orenian Empire. His Grandmother, Queen Anna of Lotharingia, doted on the two boys during their younger years. However, she died during Henrik's fourth year, leaving a lasting coldness over the once jovial boy.

Owyn, as one of the many Haenseni émigrés, was able to use his time to work within to Southern Realms, earning a meager living for his once Noble family. Eventually gaining enough to purchase some land where he would begin to build a new seat for his family: Blackfen Castle.

Henrik and Ruslan were joined with a sister and a younger brother, Diane and Jack respectively. Jack would later become Pope Clement III. Henrik's relationship with his siblings was much like that of a second father, acting 20 years beyond his true age, Henrik spent a great deal of time aiding his Mother, Lady Adrijana, in the tending and (more importantly to him) protection of his family.

Young Henrik's relationship with his Father though was Icy. Despite Owyn having been a kind man to his family, he had to spend a great deal of time generating the lifestyle expected of nobility, leading to the father unwillingly neglecting his children. Henrik himself began to despise his father when he learnt that his father's War Injury was due to Owyn getting himself captured by Courlandic Forces. During his formative years, the Amador Heir apparent rejected the education his parents had ordained for him, that of money and its management, in favour of a more martial one, bucking three generations of Amador tradition.

Regardless though, Owyn managed to secure some land in the Blackfen from his benefactors and attempted to raise a keep. Unfortunately for Owyn, the endeavour proved too costly and he sought aid from the the Duke of Mardon, Peter Sigismund. The Duke offered to take the incomplete keep of Blackfen in exchange for the County of Gravelhold and Owyn's Fealty. Desperate, Owyn agreed. He was given a new home for his family and a Vassal - His former advisor, Aylwin Blaxton, who had been ennobled by the Duke as the Viscount of Brabant with his Wife, Erin Lockley.

As Henrik entered his formative years, entering the Court of the Duke, he expanded on his martial training whilst bowing to the whims of his Mother, the Lady Adrijana to start his financial education. The Heir apparent of the House Amador joined the Ducal Army and proved himself a reliable leader. During one such training sessions with the Duke's Man-at-arms, Henrik recieved a letter from Gravelhold; His father was Dead.

Owyn "Iron-fist" Amador, died of a severe lung infection (potentially the bloody flux) in 1615. Henrik, the new Count of Gravelhold was all of twelve years of age.

Reign as Count

Henrik swore his fealty to the Duke, as was expected of him and, in turn, received his father's lands and titles. Not too long after this transition of power, the Ambitious Duke proclaimed the Sixth Holy Orenian Empire with his now-integrated Allies, crowning himself Peter II, Holy Orenian Emperor.

Hoping to act upon the change, Emperor Peter worked on aiding Count Henrik's education, family and prestige. His youngest brother was ordained into the Canonist Church and his younger Twin, Ruslan, made the Empire's Steward. After his own training had concluded, Emperor Peter made Henrik his Deputy Constable of the Sixth Imperium Legion, eventually making him a Marshal.

Unfortunately for House Amador, this patronage from the new Emperor came at a steep price; Henrik was now effectively in command of a peacetime Army whose upkeep he had to personally maintain with Amador Mina.

Nonetheless, Henrik was happy to pay the high price. He was a stern disciplinarian, outwardly cold in appearance, but a fair taskmaster. With his increased standing within the Imperial Court, he married Artemis Palaiologos, the daughter of a Duke of Mystra and Granddaughter of the King of Santegia.

By all accounts, Henrik's hard exterior softened greatly in the presence of his Countess, who became a regular at Court. It was a loving married and the Count lavished his wife with jewelry and gifts that remain in House Amador to this day.

War would come to dominate Henrik's adult life. After reforming the Legion Imperium Sextus, tensions between the Dwarven clans, as well as internal strife against the Romstuns, became the focus of the Imperium. Civil war broke out in Urguan & the true king sought Imperial aid.

Henrik, now Twenty-Eight years old was Marshal of the Legions, was presumed to be the made Field Marshal (The head of the Army during war time. ), but given his young age and family name, Emperor Peter opted for an older war veteran of his court. Spurned, Henrik maintained his Marshal's baton and Second in command, despite his protests. He joined his comrades within the Amador Wardens in the battlefield.

Henrik Ramdir Amador died of his wounds in 1634 on the field of honour. His twin succeeded him.

Animals

Henrik is known for having a number of animals during his tenure as Count of the Blackfen:

  • Henrik was known to like horses and own three by the time of his death. His War-horse, a thoroughbred-steed, Asger, was a Brown Crownlads horse that was often coated in armour. Asger served in some of the skirmished during the Third Urguan-Oren War and came back to Gravelhold after his rider fell in battle. Two Thoroughbred Ruskan White Steeds named Einherjar and Tyr were both owned by the Count for Breeding purposes.
  • Henrik also owned a pair of hunting hounds, which the Count would use to hunt for wild boar in the Blackfen marshes.
  • Most curiously, Henrik also own a Blue-feathered Cockatoo, who often sat in the main hall atop the beams and rafters of the dining hall in Gravelhold.
