House of Haverlock

The House of Haverlock is a Heartlander house, having formed as a cadet branch of House de Joannes, traditionally the ruling house of Sedan. It was formed by Louis de Joannes (Later Haverlock) after moving from his homeland of Sedan to the United Kingdom of Aaun. Since then, the family has had a very involved history with its adoptive homeland of Aaun full of stories of loyalty and controversy.

History
Formation
The branch was formed by Prince Louis Owyn de Joannes, who sought to make a name for himself and his descendants. This was met with some controversy within the Principality of Sedan, and a scandal related to the legitimacy of Louis as the son of Frederick I, Prince of Sedan was stirred up by his nephew, Frederick II, Prince of Sedan. As a result, Louis left the Principality of Sedan permanently and settled within the United Kingdom of Aaun under the Alstion dynasty. Despite Louis and Frederick II eventually burying the hatchet and the claims of Louis' legitimacy dismissed, Louis remained in Aaun and settled down with his Balian-born wife, Olenna Gorgo.
While at first Louis and his family would live in Minitz, he would end up buying a plot of land on the Petrine-Aaunic border and construct a small castle known as Joannesfort. It is around this time that Louis made the formation of the Haverlock family official, and he took for himself the title "Prince of the Haverlocks" both to solidify his claim to nobility and to cement his status as the son of Frederick I, Prince of Sedan. For his sigil and Coat of Arms, Louis would take a crowned purple dragon on a black field to symbolize the Haverlock's fealty to the Alstion dynasty whilst maintaining uniqueness and his claim to his royal blood. In the time that Joannesfort was constructed, Louis and Olenna would sire six children together - Godfrey, Leopold, Owyn, Michael, and the twins Julius and Julietta. In the meantime, Louis enlisted in the Aaunic Legion and often spent much of his time training with his fellow soldiers as well as socializing among the nobility and royalty of Aaun.
The Adrian Rebellion
The state of peace that Aaun would enter following its formation would not last forever. Heinrik Sarkozic, the Duke of Adria and a vassal of Aaun, would stage an uprising known as Heinrik's Rebellion that would tear Aaun apart. Louis and his four eldest children (Godfrey, Leopold, Owyn, and Michael) would all participate on the side of Aaun, fighting in both the Battle of Rolly's Hill and the Battle of Two Churches, battles which would give Louis himself severe PTSD. Yet, the Aaunite government and their Haverlockian vassals would be unable to turn the tide of the war and Adria would gain independence whilst also annexing the crownlands region, including Joannesfort. Bitter at the loss of his personal castle to the Adrians, Louis personally swore vengeance against Adria whilst moving his family back to Minitz. It is while living in Minitz that Olenna Gorgo would pass of natural causes, further adding to the unfortunate state the Haverlocks found themselves in.
