The Battle of Two Churches was a multi-stage campaign initiated by the United Kingdom of Aaun, Kingdom of Haense, and the Kingdom of Balian against the rebelling Duchy of Adria. The conflict began in the Basilica of Saint Heinrik in Karosgrad after the Canonist Church declared that the Adrian Duke, Heinrik Sarkozic was to be executed. The Duke along with the majority of his escort managed to escape the confines of Karosgrad and return to Adria. The coalition of Canonist states pursued the fleeing Duke and eventually came face to face with the Adrian rally in the square of Velec. Fighting ensued with the Adrians reigning victorious.

Prelude

Shortly after the Battle of Rolly's Hill, the King of Aaun and the Duke of Adria met in Eastfleet to discuss terms of peace. The meeting ended with the publication of The Armistice of 1918 [1]. In which, the King of Aaun ceded Lower Petra along with his capital; Vienne to the Duke. Among those terms laid a promise for the King of Aaun to petition the Canonist Church to lift the ex-communication of Heinirk. Two months later the High Pontiff himself published an open missive, summoning the Duke to trial in Karosgrad with the promise of protection by the Church. [2].

On the fated day, the Duke Adria assembled a company of 1,700 soldiers and noblemen to accompany him to Karosgrad for his trial. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by a closed city - many of the Haenseni avenues were blocked off by makeshift barricades with only one path leading to the Church. After being hastily greeted by their Haeseni hosts a quick prayer was made by the Auditor of the Tribunal, Father Armand and then the trial was underway. During the trial, many Adrian soldiers spotted several Aaunic soldiers don hoods and bandannas, and expecting an attack on the Duke, two exit ways were forged. The trial itself remained brief and as expected, it concluded with the Auditor of the Tribunal declaring the Duke to be executed for his crimes.

The combined Aaunic, Haeseni, and Balianeese which totaled over 10,000 quickly drew their blades and began assaulting the Duke and his escort. The Duke himself managed to escape unscathed to the back of the Basilica through a broken window where an armored horseman waited to ferry him back to Velec. The rest of Heinrik's escort split, running into the square to draw the attention of the coalition away from their leader. From there, the majority of the Adrians managed to escape - with some even bloodying their blade before hopping off the red walls of Karosgrad. However, one contingent of the escort made up of the Marshal of Adria, members of the noble House von Draco, and a Blackvale levy man barricaded themselves in the sewers of Karosgrad which led to their eventual capture at the hands of the Haeseni and the Lord Governer of Vienne, Bult Wick.

Upon returning to Velec, the Adrians, anticipating another assault by the coalition, made quick to repair the defenses of the city they tore down following the signing of the Armistice.
