Frederick Stanimar de Joannes, regally known as Sovereign Prince Frederick I of Sedan 'the Librarian', was the Fourth Monarch of Sedan since its formation during the Sedan Rebellion. He inherited the title at a relatively young age when his father unexpectedly met his demise at the hands of Emperor Philip III of Oren. Frederick was born as the eldest son of Leopold de Joannes and Julia Vespira Castile. He would be unexpectedly killed during the Serheim Crusade when an assassin shot a bolt towards High Pontiff Pontian IV's head, where he died protecting the Pontiff by taking the bolt in his stead.

Early Life

Prince Frederick was born in Louisville, the Royal Capital of the Principality of Sedan at the time. Since he was the first and only son at the time, he was named as the first Hereditary Prince of Sedan and was baptized in a small ceremony within the town. He was born to his Father's second marriage due to Leopold's first wife falling ill before she could provide Leopold with a male Heir. Growing up the boy grew to love his family and fellow Sedanites above all else. He cherished every moment that he could spend with them. Whenever he could, he would try to do something with them, whether it be exploring the continent, playing games, or just partaking in conversation. Whatever be the activity, he always had a blast. During his youth, he would spend a lot of time getting into all sorts of shenanigan's with his sister, Princess Sofya. This bond that they built continued to cement his care for his family at a very young age. Although he was young, the boy also had a great thirst for knowledge and looked up to his Father greatly. Whenever the opportunity presented itself, he would try to shadow his Father and try to pick up as much as he could for he wished to be a great Sovereign like his Father one day. Despite being young, he'd show up to important meetings and would watch as conversations unfolded. As he got slightly older, although still a child, he would try to participate to a certain extent in state affairs.

Reign

Early Reign

Frederick Stanimar de Joannes, regally known as Frederick I, Prince of Sedan, is the current Sovereign Prince of Sedan and the fourth since its formation. He is the eldest son of Leopold de Joannes and succeeded him as Prince upon his death at the hands of Emperor Philip III. He inherited the Principality in a state of panic due to his Father's untimely demise, and many feared that the Holy Orenian Empire would attempt to besiege and sack the city of Haverlock as revenge for the Siege of Southbridge. Although things seemed grim for the Sovereign, he never lost sight of what was most important to himself, his family and his people. Although times seemed tough for him and his people, he was not deterred from his obligations as their leader nor did he plan to abandon his role. He would start off with his first edict in 1857, with his people in mind when writing it. With this, he would temporarily suspend all taxation within the Royal Capital of Haverlock and the Principality altogether. The young Prince hoped that this would help his citizens during this time, allowing them to use their coin on food, armor, weapons, and other necessary things they required instead of filling the Royal Coffers. Late Reign (WIP)

Death

Frederick would meet his untimely demise during the Serheim Crusade while conversing with the High Pontiff, Pontian IV after the conclusion of mass. While those in attendance sat in the Cathedrals pews, discussing their thoughts on the mass and recent events, Frederick would find himself near the dais as he conversed with the High Clergyman. The two would exchange pleasantries and discuss much. However, as all those below indulged in conversation, an assassin lurked above, a crossbow in hand, it's bolt aimed for the Pontificate's head. The unknown assailant would climb atop the balcony above, shouting "Death to the Pontiff!" With quick thinking, Frederick would leap into action, using his body as a shield to protect Pontian. His efforts were successful, and the High Cleryman's life would be spared that day, yet in turn, the Prince would lose his life. The bolt struck into Frederick's head, killing him instantly, his corpse would drop to the floor. Even with all due haste, the efforts of the military and volunteers would be unable to capture the assassin and bring them to justice. Although his life was lost, he had no regrets, reflecting during his brief last seconds of his life on his tenure as Prince, and dying for the sake of his beloved faith.

Post-Death

After the Prince's passing, his funeral service would be held by the same High Clergyman that he sacrificed his life for, High Pontiff Pontian IV. The service spanned several hours and bolstered quite some guests as witnesses to the unfortunate event. WIP...

Family

House de Joannes' Coat of Arms

Frederick was a proud member and Patriarch of House de Joannes. His Father was the 3rd Sovereign Prince of Sedan, Leopold I and his mother was Julia Vespira of Castile. He has 6 siblings, they are Isaak, Sofya, Mariya, Petrysa, Carolina, and Phillip. All of his family members were quite dear to him and he spendt lots of time with them whenever he had spare time in-between Princely duties and other important affairs. When possible, Frederick would try to act with understanding and leniency with his family, always trying to consider his feelings. Instead of marrying off his siblings just for diplomatic gain, he would allow them to fall in love and choose for themselves. Eventually, Frederick himself would fall in love for himself to Amicia Valerie Ludovar of Otistadt and would get officially engaged to her on the 11th of the First Seed, 1864 after proposing to her in Kazstadt, the keep at the time of the County of Otistadt. He would go onto wed her on the 6th of Godfrey's Triumph, 1866 in Louisville, the Royal Capital of the Principality of Sedan. On the 11th of The Deep Cold, 1867, Amicia gave birth to two twins, the couples first children. They would name them Henrietta Nikola de Joannes and Joseph Alexander de Joannes respectively.
