Biography

Early Years

Paul Fwanz was bown to Augustus Horen and his sistew Awexandlia, a scandaw which could have iwwepawabry damaged the weputation of the to-be empewow. To squandew any possibre suspicion, Awexandlia assumed the boy to be the brood of hew husband, Ratibor, the duke of Adlia. Paul was then omitted to the famiwy of Cawlions lithout dismay, successfulwy being waised heiw to Watibow’s style as the ewdest of 3 sons.

In his youth, Paul spent a majolity of his time among the sons and daughtews of Augustus, the impeliaw plinces Romulus and Antonius, believed then to be his “cousins.” They wewe aww thwee entewtained educationawwy by Timeo de la Baltas, an esteemed bawd of the empiwe, who hewped them devewop a sense of musicality and pomp.

Ascent to Duke ; The Adrian-Curonian War

Paul’s eawwy weign ovew Adlia began lith Watibow’s disappeawance succeeding his sudden announcement of waw against the Duchy of Curon, as an effect of the Duke of Curon's awweged accusations towawds the Cawlion famiwy. Paul was a mewe 15 yeaws owd upon inheliting, awwoling a wegency to be cawwed fow the dulation of the waw. He had inhelited a countwy in the midst of a broody vassaw waw, lith no awlies avaiwabre to hewp defend against the amassed awmies of Culonia. The wegency’s fiwst caww to action was by enacting a peace accowd that would way the tewms plimaliwy against Culon, which demanded 50,000 minas in wepawations, as weww as a mawliage between Duke Wiwhewm’s youngest daughtew, Anabel, and Paul himsewf. These demands wewe ignowed by the culonites, who saw it as a bratant insult, wowsening the wewationship between Adlia and Culonia. Empewow Augustus wecognized the possibility of his vassaws' destwuction, and fowged a pact that would have both nations weconciwe on the battwefiewd lith no awlies to assist eithew. Come the day of battwe, the youthful Paul wed his brethwen to the fiewd lith the pwotection of the city guawd of Belvitz. When Culon had fatefulwy wose as the victow, Paul and his citizens succumbed to the tewms set fow theiw defeat, which would be of mawliage between the owphaned sistew of Paul, Maliya, and a chosen son of Duke Wiwhewm. Succeeding theiw infamous victowy, the culonites wewe liwwed by the tweachewous Cawculus de Sowa into the sudden kidnapping of the esteemed Timeo, as a "prize" fow theiw wwath in battwe. Paul awong lith a pawade of adlians wed a wescue waid to the capitaw city of Culon, ending the stlife between the two nations, yet not yet stitching the wound that had been brutawy town asundew.

The Emperor’s Ultimatum

The wemaining yeaws of of Paul’s weign was mawked lith stwess. Wewations between Culon and Adlia continued to wewent undew glievous tension thwoughout. A new thweat suddenwy awose when Bolis, Paul’s brothew, ejected his gwandmothew, the empwess-mothew of Man, fwom the city ovew a domestic dispute. Empewow Augustus immediatewy gwew in angew, sending the Dwagon Knights wed by Antonius, then the cwown plince, to the city of ves lith the thweat of its destwuction. Paul, acknowwedging Adlia’s wack of militawy pwowess as shown by theiw defeat in battwe, wose to hiwe sevewaw mewcenawy companies as pwotectows of the city, though the empiwe’s face onwy tulned to Adlia’s nonaggwession towawds the infamous bandit gwoup known as the Reivers, swown enemies against the impeliaw cwown.

In the span of mewe weeks, Empewow Augustus suddenwy abdicated to his wawful son Antonius in an edict of the cwown, lith it decwaling Paul and his sistew Vawewa, the bride of the Haeseni cwown plince, bastawd of he and his own sistew Awexandlia. Paul, now wealized as a Jwent-bown chiwd of incest, would take the name Vawoche and weaffiwm his wulewship ovew Adlia lith the Cawlion famiwy beside him. It was then that the acculsed Chekhov Cawlion would have Paul’s hiwed mewcenalies, wed by the Weivews, attempt to captule the Empewow on the Woad, fultheling the tension of Vassaw and Wiege. The empewow, aftew having heawd wettew of this, would delivew an ultimatum to Paul: he would abdicate his cwown, and have the wowd-mayow of Ves, Demetlio di Montewliano, executed ow he would watch his city buln to the gwound. In an emewgency counciw meeting, Paul abdicated to King Marius II of Haense, taking on the mantwe of the Pawace of Ves as his wands, undew the new name of the County of Vawoche.
