A Munnel's Orgins and the Village of Blumen

The village of Blumen is a long forgotten place upon a forgotten Island. However, it was within this village that Gil and Vola had the twins Jarad Munnel and Lilith Munnel. The father, Gil was a merchant while, Vola was a seamstress, often Gil travelled around the world for business purposes and came home around once or twice a year to celebrate important occasions with his family. When he was home, Jarad and Lilith were told amazing stories from all over the world from their father

At the age of 10 Jarad decided he wanted to travel and see more of the world when he grew up. Lilith was open to the idea but preferred living in the village. Over the next 13 years Jarad and Lilith would learn from their parents, sewing, hunting, familial traditions, cooking, woodcutting, etc. Jarad would take a particular interest in hunting and the merchant trade well lilith would take more of an interest in cooking, reading, writing books, and studying cultures. Both the kids would take a particular interest in the stories of old, the tales of the first descendants, Iblees, strange magics, faraway lands and more.

The village that they lived in, was closed off to the outside world, taking the average of two weeks to get to the nearest town by horse, the culture was also much different then a regular town, having more of a eastern culture called Lundarian which is very similar to the Waldenian culture.

Lundarian culture puts an emphasis on more traditional clothing with skins and furs mixed in with wool and silk. The boys would Formally dress in their household colours, using a wool or silk undershirt with a fur or skin shirt on top. The girls would normally dress in dresses made of wool, skin, furrs or silk dyed in their household colours, while the language can be described as very similar to Waldenian.

Jarad had learned that not everyone stays alive forever however. It motivated him more to travel and he started to learn how to defend himself with both bare hands and a weapon. At 23 he finally moved out after convincing his mom to let him go, way too late for his liking and started to explore the world. Learning about cultures but never staying to learn much, for there was always another adventure to go to.

After Jarad’s leaving, Lilith would stay with their mother helping with the small shop she ran, however, as she grow older thoughts of adventure and the wider world filled her mind, eventually at the age of 52 after being told about their secret unlike Jarad, she would set off on her own adventure, exploring the world in an attempt to find her brother one day.

Beginnings on Almaris

The House of Munnel is first recorded on Almaris in the Holy Orenian Empire with Jarad Munnel, born in 1819 who worked alongside notable figures like Philip II, Philip III, Erik Var Ruthern, Rev Vuiller and Joseph d'azor. The house gained quite a bit of fame under the head, Jarad Munnel, due to his military skill, nact for leadership, hard work, and dedication. Over time it was clear the entire family was talented and capable which lead to the gaining of titles, ranks, and more.

First Generation

  • Jarad Munnel - First recorded lord and the founding father of the House Munnel, Jarad severed many positions in the Holy Orenian Empire and the Grand Dutchy of Balian. Including, Captain of the Second Brigade, Head-Solicitor of the MOJ, Head Clerk of New Providence, First Legate of Balian, and Member of the Privy Council and as a Duke within Amaethea.
  • Sorise Munnel - Founding Mother House Munnel, Sorise has worked very closely with Jarad being a loving wife and a direct advisor on matters of the state and foreign affairs as well as advising on the matter of law within Balain.
  • Lucius Munnel - First son of Jarad Munnel, Adopted into the Munnel family at an older age than most. He helped build the reputation of the family, working side by side with Jarad and Sorise. Well, he is not born from the Munnel family, no one should doubt that he is a Munnel.

Second Generation

  • Ember Munnel - The Horobale Ember Munnel, Heir to the Munnel Family has served Both oren and Balian well helping the making of multiple treaties and being an advisor to her father, Sir Jarad Munnel.
  • Hera Munnel - The Lady Hera Munnel, was adopted into the mainline of the Munnel family during the transition between Oren and Balian. She is the first human child of the Munnel family and the second overall to complete the Ceremony of the Fox.

House Culture

General Infomation

The Munnels are a proud house of High elves that are very skilled in hunting and the use of bows. The Munnel family holds many weird and unorthodox practices among their descents, including the clipping of ears upon their birth, this in the family serves two important purposes, one is to be able to pass as human well the other being to shed them of their pride. it is the first lesson they shall learn. Well, the family holds titles of Nobility, they will never give up their teaching, practices, and traditions.

Succession

For the mattes of succession within House Munnel, it is not based on who is the eldest son or daughter but instead an appointed type system, where the Head of the house will choose their hair by judging each candidate and picking which, would be able to serve the family best and who has done the most for the family. Once a successor is chosen they will keep their position until one of three things happens; they succeed the head, they are deemed unfit to rule or they are killed. If one of these three things happen, a new heir will be chosen.

Heirlooms

  • The Bow, Fantasia - The Lord of Crimson. Wielded by the Head of House Munnel, the bow has been tampered with and enchanted in order to produce crimson arrows, it is a symbol of the house and its history as hunters.
  • The Bow, Collbrande - The Son of Crimson. Wielded by the Heir of House Munnel, the bow itself is a symbol, one of trust and care. Given by the head of house to their chosen successor.
  • The Bow, Anführer der Hölle - Daughter of Crimson. For the First Twin of the Heir, the bow has been crafted with love and care. Its wield must have been someone important to the founder.
  • The Bow, Blink - Voidal Walker. Does it exist at all? It has been seen to warp its wielder in and out of reality. Truly a mystery to be unlocked and discovered.
  • The Sword, Bastard Eagle - Sword of the Son. The Bastard Eagle is a sword crafted by Jarad Munnel, Lucius Vuillerian, and Togrim Vanari as a gift for Jarad to give to Lucius. The sword itself has been tampered with many times. It stands as a gift for the first son of House Munnel.
  • The Sword, Coldbane - The Bringer of Dawn. The sword has an unnatural property to it, able to produce a fire that can melt the coldest of hearts, its first wielder was also a young girl with a fire and passion.
  • The Sword, Ymar - The Sword that Cuts Ibliees. If it exists, then it can be cut, that is the philosophy this sword was crafted with, magic be weary and demons cower for the chill of Ymar shall find you.
  • The Dagger, Attentäter des Lichts - The Assasin of Light. The dagger is meant to strike fear into those who see it, being able to attack from afar does have its perks at times. Crafted for a son of the Munnel house.
  • The Spear, Drachenblut - The Lord of Fire. Dance, Dance, Dance, do the eternal flames dance? Fire is the source of all life and intern life creates fire. So does the flaming spear dance. It shall dance for all time and forever its flame shall burn.
  • The Spear, Darinfall - The Spear that Flys. Can one truly fly? that question is unknown, however, this spear certainly was crafted with mastery, meant to defend its wielder in hopes of a brighter future. soring thought the sky and raising the earth under it.
  • The Shield, Schutz - The People's Guardian. The protection of the common man is the job of a knight. So shall the wielder of this shield uphold that much. The one who wields this shield must understand two things. One, the words is not black and white. Two, there are things in this world that you must protect.
  • The Banner of Munnel. An orange fox with sharp red eyes.

Family Traditions, Practices and Teachings

  • Spirit of the Bow - From a young age, every Munnel learns to use a bow and crossbow to the point of mastery. This is the way of the family and the pride of it.
  • Spirit of the Hunt - The Munnel Family are proud adventures and self-sufficient, Providing for their own. Every eight years the family will partake in a family hunt that doubles as a challenge, whoever can gather the most will be bestowed the title of “Jagdmeister” until the next hunt.
  • Spirit of the Mother - All you have in life is your family ties, the Munnel Family is all too aware of this fact and family ties are considered sacred to them, allies are temporary but family is forever. It is the one thing in life worth protecting.
  • Spirit of the Father - Sometimes you must make sacrifices to save those you love, however. You should never forget yourself or your place, We shall not become the monsters we fight.
  • Respekt vor dem Leben - The Munnel family respects their roots, from a young age they are taught about nature, herbs, medicine, hunts, wilderness survival, and above all. Nature in general, to be a hunter you must have respect for nature. For part of this, they will be expected to spend time in different environments. Hunting, fishing, and camping.
  • Das Fuchsfest - A masquerade festival called the Das Fuchsfest. Many in the Munnel have planned for this moment, and have come to see it through, the day where all people, of all races and religions, can come celebrate together, in the name of freedom. Hunters around the world would take part in the archery contest and bachelors may take part in our dances and exquisites, and many more parts of the Festival. The festivities include; Archery contest, where we the winner will be rewarded with a trophy to signify they are worthy of being called Der FuchsJäger. Children will be welcomed to tame their own fox, raging from snow white to bright woodland orange fox, to pure gray mountain foxes. The festivities will end with a feast, where cheers will be given to each other's lives, and worth, and celebrate the birth of the newest Munnels who have been given new light, or have been taken in as a ward.
  • Bindung von Fuchs - Learning to care for others and work together is a key factor in life, for this reason, each child of the Munnel family is given their own pet fox to raise and care for. It is the hope in doing so that they will learn to respect life more and grow up healthier. As time goes on the two will live and grow together, spending time hunting and bonding together.
  • Ceremony of the Fox - Once a member of the Munnel family has proven themselves they will be called before the Family head. During this ceremony, they are acknowledged by the family head and given a gift to aid them in the future. After the Ceremony, they will become a full part of the family.
  • Den Lords - Den Lords are people who residence upon the lands of the Munnel's trusted by the Patriarch and Matriarch, they will gain all the rights and be allowed to partake in the Traditions of the house if they wish to, additionally they may sit in on family meetings and are to be treated like family.
  • Cleansing of Pride - Upon the birth of a new munnel, there ears shall be clipped. This serves two important purposes, one is to be able to pass as human well the other being to shed them of their pride. it is the first lesson they shall learn. - This Tradition died out after the second generation of Munnels(Ember and Rose).
  • The Foxes Feast - Once every Sixteen years, the Munnel family will meet to have a great feast, for this the Patriarch, Matriarch, and Heir apparent much depart on the foxes hunt to gather food for the feast to which the rest of the family will cook, once everything is prepared the family will partake in one large celebration and feast dubbed ‘The Foxes Feast’.

If it is a more political marrage they must also get permission from the head of house.
  • Die Rückkehr der Natur - Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust, one day we all must return to whence we came, well it is sad to lose a loved one we must still give them a proper burial. Firstly they will have a funeral in the religion of their worship, in the lack of such the family will get together and the head of the house will say a prayer. Afterward, the body or ashes shall be taken to the family grave where they will rest for the rest of eternity.
  • The Sunlit Fox of Dawn - The Sunlit Fox of Dawn is an award given to both Munnels, Brights and Denlords upon the completion of a great dead, proving themself worthy of their name and legacy. The award is typically given during the Ceremony of the Fox. However, it can also be awarded outside the Ceremony.
  • The Moonlit Fox of Dusk - The Moonlit Fox of Dusk is a medal given to the dead, both Munnels and Brights who have accomplished greatness in life and now have passed on. It will be placed upon their body prior to burial.

Munnel Own'd Companies

The Munnel Trading Company

The Munnel Trading Company was created by Jarad Munnel well being owned and operated by the Munnel Family. The company deals in the basic trading of goods, rare commodities, and standard and custom forged weapons and armor. The Company is highly successful and functional and is overall well maintained. There are select branches of the Munnel Trading Company run by different members of the family.

  • Fox's Forge - Armor, Weapons, Bows, this branch of the company focuses on custom orders for weapons and utility. The current head of operations for this branch is Jarad Munnel.
  • Munnel Music and More - Music makes the world go around, this branch was originally started by Rose Munnel who has traveled the world looking for interments The current head of operations for this branch is Rose Munnel.
  • Munnel Desterilizes - The Munnel distilleries is the part of the company that deals in wine, food and beverages. The current head of operations for this branch is Emmber Munnel.
  • General Merchandise - General goods, custom orders for everything non-smithy related, food, water, horses, iron, arrum, you have it we have it! The current head of operations for this branch is Jarad Munnel & Emmber Munnel.

Destinies Crossroads

Destinies Crossroads is the Tavern owned and created by Jarad Munnel. The tavern itself is rather popular having hosted a lot of events include a Krugmas truce during the Oren v Urguan War. The functionality of the tavern and tavern upkeep is very impressive especially when you include that the tavern, has been burned down not once but twice during the war. [1]

The Munnel Archives

The Munnel Archives is a collection of books from all around the world, copied over and over again in order to make a functioning archival library. The current library totals over 100 books. The book collected can relate to anything and everything, cooking, history, medicine, lizzards, and much much more. The current head librarian is Sorise Munnel.

The Munnel Guard

Order of the Golden Bow

The Order of the Golden Bow is a Familial knight order started by Sir Jarad Munnel. To join the order one might be a Munnel, Bright, Denlord, or in the Order of the Golden Fox. Additionally, to get accepted as a knight, one must perform a great deed, understand the house's values and teaching, be extremely proficient with a bow and, be loyal to the lord of the house. Very few people from within the Munnel Family are accepted themselves into the knight order. The knight order is very dear to the Munnel house as it is a way to test those of the house and those who wish to join the house.

Mercenaries

The Mercenary core has always been a key part of the Munnel's guard. It is made up of those who are bought into service by the house lord, normally consisting of groups such as the Hustlers. Anyone may enlist in this part of the army, however, most of the time they must sign a lifelong contract in order to be allowed to enter the army in this manner. All mercenaries are treated well by the family and are often given awards or extra pay depending on their work.

Bannermen

The Bannermen of the Munnel are the personal guards of the Munnel family, they will normally be trained either by Lord Munnel, The Knight Commander, or the Capital of the army. there are a total of 3 ranks when it comes to bannerman; Recruit, Bannerman, and Capitan. The Captain is also responsible for helping run the army. Those who reach the bank of Bannermen will be presented with the banner of Munnel so they may carry it around with pride and honor. This symbolizes the trust that is given to the person.

History

Almaris

The first recording of the Munnel family date back to Almaris in the Holy Orenian Empire. During the early days of the family, Jarad was adopted by the Vuillers making a bridge between the two families. During this time the family dabbled in military leadership, becoming medics and helping run the steward office in new providence, however peace was not meant to last forever, soon enough two dwarves attacked his brother Duncan Vuiller, Sparking the Oren v Urguan War. During the war, the family made waves by helping in military command, city management, major war donations, building defenses, and helping in siege operations.

During the war, the family was granted a Baronetcy which they took great pride in and used in order to further help Oren grow. Post-war the family was granted a Barony and there was peace for a time, however soon after the war, Philip III Passed away sparking the Brother's War. During the brothers' war, the family stayed neutral, due to this they were belittled, abused, insulted, and driven out of the very city they once help grow and flourish. Having their friends, family, and people they once help care for betray them in the worst way possible. Deciding that they would not stand for this nor where these monsters were truly their friends after being treated so poorly, the family would leave Oren, deciding to move with the imperial faction and aid in the founding of Balian, being granted another barony by John I along the way.

Within Balian, the family has made a name for themselves within the diplomatic sphere, the building of new houses, and aiding in civil affairs and law. During this the still head of the family, Jarad Munnel would start exploring the world more, mapping out new lands and visiting old friends, two such friends were Kosher Daesmon the now prince of Amaethea, and, Frisket Monet an old friend from Elysium who had now moved to the south. Before long the family would grow more in reputation and prestige on an international scale. However, in the following years, the family would be dishonored and mistreated by the people they attempted to serve and help, having enough of this Jarad would call a Fox's Council with all members including Denlords in attendance.

Through an overwhelming and unanimous vote, the family decided to leave and move on with their these lives, settling down in the west for now in Helious. Before leaving Jarad would abdicate the Vicounty of Eflan and the Barony of Abretta in a private letter to Rev Vuiller and John I. Completely enraged by this Rev would make a public statement stipping titles that were already abdicated along with disowning him, removing all Munnel-Vuiller connections. The family was not deterred by this and would continue to grow and thrive, before long Helious would grow to a decent population, staying in peace and enjoying their new lives. With the continuous growth of Helious Jarad was soon awareded a County, then March then a Duchy alongside the title Taur which is the highest ranking nobility possible in Amalthea under the rules of Kosher Daesmon and Acanthus Daesmon.
