The War of the Wigs, also known as the Sinners' War, was a major scale conflict between the Tripartite Accord spearheaded by the Grand Kingdom of Urguan against the Holy Orenian Empire. The war began when the Grand King of Urguan Ulfric Frostbeard issued several demands to the Holy Orenian Emperor Philip II, Holy Orenian Emperor. The Emperor immediately denied the demands and accepted the Grand King's offer for an Honor War. Prior to the war, tensions had begun over the Imperial State Army clashing with two members of the Ireheart Clan of Urguan. After several diplomatic attempts had failed and the vassals of Urguan making fervent calls for war the war was ignited. The war is seen as being rather unique, since beforehand both Grand King Ulfric and Emperor Philip II agreed to an Honor War, meaning no allies or mercenaries would be called into the conflict except for vassal-states of either Oren or Urguan. Later on, with the ascension of Philip III, the Honor War was changed to being a regular conventional war with the Tripartite Accord being formed by the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, the Kingdom of Norland, and the Kingdom of Haense.

The situation surrounding the continuation of the war by the Holy Orenian Empire and the remarks made by Emperor Philip III would lead to a significant event within the Church of the Canon dubbed the Michaelite Schism.
