Ragnarr Mösu, also known as Sir Ragnarr & Ragnarr Sigurðrsson alongside Barbarossa because of his fiery red hair and facial hair, was among the 4 sons and the only surviving one of his father, Sigurðr Mösu. Ragnar is widely known as the first Head of House Mösu and the official founder of the House, even though it had existed before him as a commoner dynasty for centuries, for he was the one that lifted it from humble beginnings to a noble house that later ruled over the Duchy of Redclyf-Rozania. He was also the holder of several other titles such as the Aesir of Aesirs and the Aesir of War (although the title of Aesir of War being temporarily held by him until a suitable candidate could be found) within the Duchy of Redclyf-Rozania thus making him the first person in the so-far short yet ongoing history of the duchy to hold two offices at the same time. He was furthermore knighted in the Kingdom of Norland when King Ragnvald Eiriksson Ruric reigned over the lands of the north, thus making him a Knight of Norland but after Ragnarr and the Mösu's departure from Norland due to disputes with the local government and unfair treatment, he considered and called himself a Knight-Errant, A Knight with no liege.

Childhood

Ragnarr was born in a cold winter of the year 28 S.A. He was a unique child in their family as he was the only one that had red hair, red as the flame which gives us light in the dark. Some in the family saw it as a blessing and others as a curse from the Allfather. No matter how you saw it, he was picked on by the kids in their village. He spent many nights crying in the arms of his mother, Estrid Mösu, because of this but she always told him that someday they would respect and even fear him and even serve him. This was the seed that led to him becoming ambitious and seeking or rather trying to gain the respect from others. As he grew older, to around the age of 12, he stumbled upon a man who seemed to be more of a poet than a fighter. But never judge a book by its cover. The man could fight really well. Young Ragnarr was so impressed by the man that he asked him to teach him how to be as witty and poetic as him while also teaching him his martial prowess. The man refused at first but when he saw how Ragnarr was being bullied he changed his mind. From that moment on Ragnarr's life would change. He would no longer be a weak and pathetic little boy who was bullied but something greater. Ragnarr and the man trained at every opportunity they got.

During these times Ragnarr helped his father on their farm whenever he could, learning much from his father in terms of farming and a lot of other subjects, some of them also being taught to him by the man that decided to help him as well, alongside being told countless stories from the lives his old man had lived and what it meant to be a man. Ragnarr and his father had a deep bond that could not be destroyed, Sigurðr even put the little Ragnarr in charge of protecting the farm while the overall well-being and economics it was put in the soft and loyal hands of his mother, Estrid Mösu, while he was levied into the Norlandic Army to fight in their wars.

It was around the time that Ragnarr was 16 that he first fell in love. He remembers it as clear as day and even wrote it in his journal.

"It was summer and I was out fetching things for (my) mother in the market when suddenly I heard someone humming a song. The person who was humming and singing bits of it had the voice of an angel. I looked around to spot a young lass by the name of Adela. Her beauty was beyond compare and my heart started beating faster. It was as if she had put an enchantment on me, a spell. What felt like an hour was soon over faster than (I) expected it to be when she disappeared behind a building."

Ragnarr from that day onward would try to capture her heart and gain her affection. Although he would never succeed since she soon left the village to become a priestess. This little pursuit for love was a break from the mundane day that he experienced every day. When she had left he dived into a more hedonistic lifestyle, feeling more or less heartbroken by the fact that he would most likely never see her again. He became a regular at a local tavern, drinking, feasting with his friends and lads, and doing some more suspicious activities with the ladies.

Early Adulthood

When Ragnarr finally reached adulthood, he finished learning all that the man who decided to tutor him, whose name was Manfred, in poetry and martial arts. Feeling that he was trapped by the village that he lived in, he wanted to get away from all the things he had already done a thousand, a million, a billion times and seek out his adventures that he could tell his children like Ragnarr's father, Sigurðr, had told him. He started packing his bags and left the village, only having an old sword his father had brought back from his times as a levy by his side and would never be heard from again. All he did was leave a small note to his family, saying that he was leaving to seek out his adventures. He for many years lived a nomadic lifestyle. Hunting to get food and sleeping next to a campfire. Only in winters did he sleep in taverns so that he would not freeze to death. He traveled around the world and went to many of the great sites in the world, often fighting as a mercenary to make a living so that he would survive from day to day. While being a mercenary one would hire to do anything as long as it provided Ragnarr with money and was within what he was willing to do. He ended up doing smaller tasks such as returning escaped animals or fighting in the retinue of some lord who needed more soldiers. These fights and battles is where he gained most of his scars, the most notable one being the one that has made his eye blind.

Extracts From his Journal At The Time:

"So something rather strange happened today on the 2nd of... something, in the year 48 S.A. I had come to a stop at some small religious estate in the warm and temperate region that is south of the cold and icy Norland and north of the mountains where the dwarves live. I soon found myself speaking to the religious leader and owner of the estate and they had a rather odd problem. One of the chickens that belonged to one of the farmers in the area had escaped and was causing trouble. It was assaulting children and breaking into the granaries where the grain from the harvests are kept. They had sealed the place over and over again yet it always found a way to get in. So I was tasked with capturing and returning said chicken and I was dumb enough to believe that would be easy! When I found the chicken, it led me through the entire estate while running away from me as I tried to capture it and I swear to the Allfather that the workers and people who lived on the estate must've thought I was mad. Eventually I managed to get it into a corner and stuffed it into a bag before returning to the owner with chicken in hand so I could get my payment. Never again will I do such a thing..."

"Today I was hired by some small and irrelevant manor lord in the southern continent to fight alongside him and his retinue against some bandits who have been harassing his subjects. They apparently extort and rob them and if they refuse then they mutilate them. Cutting up their bodies, breaking and twisting bones to create disfigured "art" as one captured bandit calls it. We'll soon be heading out to fight them and kill the scum... Also this warmth here in the south is driving me crazy at times. I feel like I will die of a heat stroke whenever there are no clouds in the sky. I am starting to miss the cold of Norland. Maybe I should return there one day and settle down..."

It is only when he turned 24 that he started seeking for a chance to settle down and thus he decided on returning home to Norland, where he was born.

Returning to & While In Norland (54 S.A - 77 S.A)

Upon years of traveling and fighting in distant lands, Ragnarr finally decided that the road was no longer a place for him for he had seen most of what the world could offer him and had experienced more than most men and women. Thus he decided on returning north to his old home and realm of Norland, to settle down and grow a household of his own. The road to Norland were unfamiliar and strange to him as he traveled upon them for he had been gone for a decade or more and hadn't set foot in it since he left his village yet they had a nostalgic feeling as he walked on them, taking him past places such as the home of the Ferrymen & the Barony of Krew and what would later become Alisgrad, the capital of Norland after the razing and ransacking of Varhelm. He read all the signs on the roads to make sure that he was indeed heading in the right direction and soon he found himself outside the mighty gates of Varhelm, the capital of Norland at the time. The first thing he noticed when looking through the iron bar gates was how empty and dead the streets were and how the place had changed since he last was there, the last time being when he headed there with his family for a religious celebration when he was still a little child. Ragnarr shouted and shouted from time to time for someone to come to the gates and let him in but no one answered. Ragnarr waited for days until finally a woman came and opened the gate for him. This would be the first interaction Ragnarr would have with a Norlander for quite some time. Soon after he was let in, a member of the Ashguard (As they would be referred to as today) approached Ragnarr and they chatted for a while. One thing lead to another and soon Ragnarr found himself joining the Ashguard which soon after lead to his first encounter with Ragnvald Eiriksson Ruric, the marshal of the Ashguard at the time, where he soon after swore the oath of service and received a room within the Barracks.

From there on out Ragnarr fought and served alongside his brothers-in-arms in the army yet it was rare for him to find himself in actual combat or a battle with said army due to him always being preoccupied with other personal matters thus making him unavailable to fight. This was a common occurrence but he was always there for patrols and trainings but all this would not last sadly. A year or two or perhaps even four yers after Ragnarr had joined the military, he promptly disappeared. Little is known of what he did under this period of uninvolvement in Norland but from what he himself has briefly mentioned in person, he was reconnecting with himself in the tundras of the north, trying to find himself. When he eventually returned, he was around the middle of his 30's and found the streets of Varhelm more empty and war was on the Horizon. Men and women from distant lands north of the northen snows and icy lands of Norland had come to Norland with Fire & Blood in mind. These people were known as the Svarlings and soon they found themselves outside the walls of Varhelm with the intention of bringing down the city and burning it to the ground. Ragnarr was one of the soldiers who stood on the walls of Varhelm alongside Norlands allies and tried to hold the enemy back, operating a balista in the attempt to bring the enemy war elephants down but the battle quickly turned and soon Ragnarr and the defenders were pushed back which lead to the city and capital being put to the torch.

After the siege of Varhelm ended and the Svarlings more or less left, Ragnarr witnessed a hard time within Norland, their people being tempted with the promise of land and stability in lands beyond the borders of Norland, yet he did not leave even though he may have considered it, alongside chaos within the government for there was no king to rule. Ragnarr did not have much on an affect within the political landscape of the Kingdom at the time although he did maintain military activity within Norland on his own by spending days on gate duty. It was during these times that Ragnvald Eiriksson Ruric was appointed king of Norland and Asmund Camian taking Ragnvald's position as Marshal. With Asmund being made Marshal he made several reforms which allowed Ragnarr to climb the ladders of the military chain of command faster, one of these reforms being the mark system which would later inspire Ragnarr when he made the 1st Military Reform for the Duchy of Redclyf-Rozania. With these reforms, Ragnarr quickly climbed the ranks up to Man at arms which gave him the right to host patrols and other forms of military events. Around the time of when he reached the rank of Man-At-Arms, something strange happened all around the continet. Blood started to rain from the sky and would drive those who touch it mad and or aggressive. Ragnarr was one of the people who was touched by the rain, giving him visions and images which would make the bravest man cower in fear. He would've most likely killed those around him or himself if it was not for his comrades who washed it off, thus curing him. It was during this time that Ragnarr grew more ambitious, for he was not going to remain as some small soldier who had no legacy to leave behind for his children so he made a simple request to the King of Norland during one of the royal courts. During his time as a member of the army, he never recieved any pay for the work he had done which was rightfully his. He made a simple request to the king at one of his court sessions, being the same court session where Ragnarr was knighted alongside several others, thus making them the first knights of Norland, and that was that he was to be granted a small plot of land which he could raise a family and farm on yet the King and his council doubted that Ragnarr would be able to maintain such land by his own so they put down a few requirements, the requirements being that he grow his family to 5 people, including himself. (These conditions were put out the court session following the knighting of Ragnarr.) Ragnarr noticed that they wanted him to grow a house which would later be granted land and would serve as barons of the Kingdom yet he did not mind this for it would only further his own ambitions. Right after the king Ragnvald Eiriksson Ruric had told him of their conditions and the court session had ended, a young lad by the name of Uhtred approached Ragnarr and requested that he adopt him. Ragnarr did not think too much of it considering he needed to grow his family so that he would be able to gain what he had requested. Thus Ragnarr adopted Uhtred, both cutting their hands and mixing their blood so that they both shared the same blood and after that Uhtred adopted the Mösu name.

As time passed on Ragnarr meet several new people such as Ragnar Sigvardson and his cousin Dahlia Sigvardson Mösu (known as Dahlia Kallabraxos-Sigvardson at the time) and made good impressions with the both of them, Ragnarr even catching feelings for the cousin. Not only that but Uhtred soon introduced him to some of his friends, said friends being Friedrich I and Ulrich Schulte who owned a company known as the Red Company and had a holding in Savoy as a vassal of the principality at the time. During these times of overall peace within the world, Ragnarr & Uhtred went on several tourneys (most of them being won by Uhtred) such as the Tourney of Drusco where Uhtred won the jousting tourney and where Ragnarr crossed paths with Dahlia Sigvardson once again. The two exchanged words and even flirted before Ragnarr & Uhtred had to get going. This casual flirting between Ragnarr & Dalhia and what not soon ended with the two ending up in a relationship with eachother, later getting married in 76 S.A, a day after their first child was born, even though it went against the wishes and approval of Dahlia's cousin and head of her clan, Ragnar Sigvardson. Some time before that, Ragnarr & Friedrich I combined their houses into one via mutual agreement and a pact. The agreement which they made was that the two houses (once combined) would be named Mösu and that Ragnarr would be the head of it alongside that Friedrich would have full control on what the House's stance in the south was for as long as it didn't intervene with overall and wider House policies.

Disputes With & Departure From Norland (75-77 S.A)

The last few years that would lead up the Mösu departure from Norland was one filled with minor and major disputes with the local government, it's officers in the army and general disrespect and clear hostility from both sides. The clear beginning of this would start with Astrid Eiriksson-Black Ruric, the only overseer in the military at the time, marching up with a warbands worth of soldiers, weapons drawn and shields held up high when they spotted men on the walls of the Barony, ready to defend their home at the sudden arrival of a warband they did not recognise nor know if they came in peace or with hostile intentions to the Barony of Redclyf with the intention of announcing the demotion of Lord Uhtred Mösu to Uhtred. Sources differ on what was said and went down after although what is known is that both sides exchanged insults after the official announcement. Following said events, Ragnarr felt that it was high time that they go and establish their prescence in Norland by showing King Ragnvald Eiriksson Ruric that Ragnarr had fulfilled the conditions given to him if he was to be granted land. Even though he fulfilled what was needed to be granted it, the King delayed the matter by having him and his council discuss the matter. But Ragnarr was not done, no. He and his kin felt that they were owed a apology for this insult and general aggression towards him and his Kin that was acted out by the Overseers and the troops that went with her. They debatted on what had happened to no avail for no apology was given and that was the last straw.

In the year of 77 S.A, Ragnarr wrote a missive that would talk about how Norland had behaved towards his kin and how they have treated Norland. Said missive was titled "A Song of Exodus" and was nailed up onto every notice board in Norland, it's vassals and states outside of Norland. The missive was the official announcement from his House that made it clear that House Mösu would no longer be affiliated with nor serve Norland and that they would depart from it, heading to their Kin in the south, the Duchy of Redclyf-Rozania.

Settling in The Duchy of Redclyf-Rozania

Soon following the departure of Ragnarr Mösu “Barbarossa” and his Mösu kin from the Kingdom of Norland, they settled in the south in the duchy of Redclyf which they were soon given prominent positions in the government. Ragnarr was made the Aesir of Aesirs (the highest position one could obtain without being the duke) and the Aesir of War due to his contributions to the military, mainly for writing the military reform which would change how war is conducted and how the army is structured and organized. During the first few years of them moving into the duchy, they were faced with threats and attacks from the Kingdom of Norland, some of Ragnarrs kin being kidnapped and later executed in Norland. This could not be left unattended so Ragnarr sent out a meeting request to the king of Norland so that the two could discuss terms so that both parties could live in peace and be left alone. The Chiefdom of Daeland-Vitsulia was kind enough to host and sponsor the meeting, making sure both parties meet on neutral grounds where no blood would be spilled. After long talks where voices were raised and accusations made, the two sides finally came to an agreement. The Mösus would pay reparations to the Norlandic government (even though there was no damage that had been done) and in return, a non-aggression pact would be signed that would last for 10 years. Ragnarr was hesitant about paying reparations for he believed they had done nothing wrong up until Casimir Vilchyc offered to pay the sum for them, even going so far as to state that if they failed to pay then the Norlanders would get to have his head and even void the whole treaty. Ragnarr was outraged at this but letting it slide for peace was more important than petty blood feuds. The pact was soon sealed with the signing of both parties and later the payments were done.

During the last years of Ragnarr’s life, he contracted a new deadly and infectious disease that was referred to as “The plague” or “The Rot”. He had caught this disease while traveling to Vienne for official business. The last years of his life were filled with pain and misery and later delusions of divinity. Ragnarr started to experience voices within his head (possibly due to the degrading nature of his mind) who convinced him that he was a God. This delusion would lead to him killing a dear friend of his when told that he was not a god. This killing would eventually lead to Ragnarr being put on house arrest, avoiding execution due to the fact that he was found mentally ill. From there on out, Ragnarr would live the rest of his life confined to his Manor in Myrine as his whole body slowly decomposed and vanished before eventually disappearing completely. It is debated whether he died or not for the only thing that could be found in his bedroom were the clothes and items he wore and organs and blood.
