Mani roamed this world far before any of the descendant races arrived. When the Children of Horen, Malinor, Urguan, and Krug came- they were primitive and dull- until the progenitors; the various leaders of the descendants started to chisel their own civilizations and destroy the ecosystem. The only ones that affected the Mani, though, were the Children of Malinor. They began to cut at the trees, and form their own cities. The Aspects saw this as something that could be mitigated. Henceforth, at the highest point of the ancient world, they made a great bidding. Among the first to receive this call were the Chieftains of Elk, Boar, Eagle, Panther, Wolf, Horse, and Snake. They were considered the strongest, most intelligent, and most ingenious of their pack. The Aspects deviated and came to the decision that they would grant two divine blessings, being further intellection and etherealism. The Aspects did not covet a war. Instead, to bring balance between mortals and the wild. In times of need, the Mani would protect their tribes from interventions longed by descendants of both moral and immortal origin. Mani are essentially the spiritual leaders of their distinct species.

Lesser Mani / Forgotten Mani
 +
These are the Mani who never developed a large following among descendant peoples. Often times out of a deliberate attempt to remain isolated from all pockets of elven, dwarven and human civilization. Or, because their species is too few in number to influence descendant lives, or do not occupy a natural niche with any significance to human, elven and dwarven society. Lesser Mani have less sympathy, fondness or familiarity with Descendant mannerisms and can be more easily swayed towards being hostile towards them. A powerful enough being, (ergo September Prince) can sway the forgotten Mani to his cause as long as the Mani are not putting their own species in danger, or perceived to be betraying the Aspect’s vision for them.

Greater Mani
Descendant peoples have long worshipped the Mani. The practice of Animal-Prince worship was a natural evolution from the worship of the Aspects themselves. It originated among elven peoples on both Ancient Axios and Atlas, but later spread to groups of nomadic humans on the southern Atlasian steppe, as well as sometimes the odd dwarf, orc or hou-zi.

Greater Mani have more longevity and power and incorruptibility than their lesser-known cousins. This is largely due to their historical ties to descendant peoples who have worshipped them and made pacts with them. These Mani have grown used to the mannerisms of elves and men, as well as interacting with them, and are far less easily swayed towards chaos. They remain true to being a bridge between the descendant peoples, and the species with which they are tasked to lead.

Introduction

Also known as the 'bridge between man and the beast', Mani is (guardian) spirits that are chosen by the Aspects. Their main purpose is to protect their particular species. Each beast tasked with this great honor will be reborn as a Demigod, this is why they're often times referred to as the "Demigods of the Wild". They are also blessed with intelligence due to having lived for thousands of years. The majority of times, Mani aren't hostile towards mortal descendants, even those that hunt their kind. The descendants that leave a tribute to Mani are compensated at random. However; those that are selfish by overfishing, overhunting, or destroying vast amounts of another species' habitat- may find themselves stalked by the Mani. Soon enough, they will know that they've unleashed the wrath of the wild.

The Mani at large are recluse beings that won’t appear to mortals without a convincing incentive. This quest of discovery has proven to be a puzzle in its own right, for the Aspects Chosen are by no means akin to Descendent-kind. They are their own animal - literally speaking. Demigods. There are those revered as benevolent and wise, others rumored to be cold and ferocious. Yet the sole absolute among each of them lies in their loyalties as patrons to respective species. Thus, persuading a Mani to present itself oft varies drastically in approach.

Origin

Mani roamed this world far before any of the descendant races arrived. When the Children of Horen, Malinor, Urguan, and Krug came- they were primitive and dull- until the progenitors; the various leaders of the descendants started to chisel their own civilizations and destroy the ecosystem. The only ones that affected the Mani, though, were the Children of Malinor. They began to cut at the trees, and form their own cities. The Aspects saw this as something that could be mitigated. Henceforth, at the highest point of the ancient world, they made great bidding.

Qualities

These spiritual beings have the ability to speak in Common and Ancient Elven. This gift was bestowed unto them by the Aspects so that the communication between man and beast is up to standards. Their intellectual accumulations would allow them to comprehend the Orcish Blah or any other cultural language derived from Common. Not many will have the opportunity to come face-to-face with a Mani; only the very few that they deem worthy. They look for individuals that are pure in hindsight, and reign vengeance on those who attempt to disrupt the balance of nature. The only time they will appear is to bestow blessings onto these characters.

Powers

As expected, the Mani have several powers, or 'blessings', that were gifted to them by the Aspects. They are as followed:

 • Mastery over the Wilds.
 • Communion with all life forms.
 • Limited control over the weather, which is usually limited to precipitation.
 • Shapeshifting- the Mani have the ability to take on non-human, and spiritual forms. They cannot use their other powers whilst in a non-physical mannerism.
 • Mental connection with their kind- meaning that whatever the Mani command, their species would instinctively follow through with. Even if it were as negative as sending them off of a mountain.

Weaknesses

While they are seen as superior beings, the Mani also have a number of weaknesses that dwell within. For starters, the Mani are eternal, not immortal. This means that they can be killed with great magic or with well-installed arrows. It's much more difficult than taking up arms with an animal; though, as the Mani can withstand critical injuries before succumbing.

Lesser Mani / Forgotten Mani

Greater Mani cannot be corrupted by the every day actions of men.
