This page is about the Modern Kingdom of Oren. For Oren as a general concept, see Oren or for older editions of the kingdom, see Old Kingdom of Oren.

The Fourth Kingdom of Oren, or simply Oren is a large Human nation that occupies much of the former lands of the Holy Orenian Empire following its collapse during the Brothers' War. The most recent iteration of the Kingdom was founded in Almaris, after Frederick I dissolved the Holy Orenian Empire and defeated his older brother Emperor Peter IV in a war of succession that brought about the end of the Empire.

The Kingdom of Oren is an absolute hereditary monarchy, with the King having absolute power and his titles being passed down to his eldest Sons. The current King, Frederick I, ascended the Orenian throne after storming the Imperial capital of New Providence and declaring the dissolution of the Empire. After defeating his older brother in the Battle for New Providence, Frederick ordered the lands of the old Empire split into the Kingdom of Oren and the independent Grandmarch of Westfall, with House Novellen, still remaining the royal house of Oren.

History

The Brothers' War

Main: Brothers' War

Following the infamous War of the Wigs, Philip III, Holy Orenian Emperor had suddenly passed away and his wife, Anastasia I had succumbed to a broken heart and passed in the following fortnight. With both its monarchs dead, a severe power vacuum was opened in the Holy Orenian Empire. Both Philip and Anastasia's firstborn son, Peter Augustus and their thirdborn son Frederick Charles sought to fill that rift. In the days following Anastasia's death, Frederick Charles had amassed a sizeable host of his Mardonic Bannerman which he used to march on the Imperial Capital of Providence and claim the city.

Upon taking complete control of Providence, Frederick proclaimed the dissolution of the Holy Orenian Empire and declared himself King of Oren. Several Orenian vassal lords immediately bent the knee to the new King however, some were more hesitant than others such as Duke Ivan var Ruthern of Reutov who fled to his ancestral home of Blackriver Hall to begin the formation of a movement to install Peter Augustus onto the Orenian throne.

Ultimately this would lead to a four-month-long civil war known as the Brothers' War in which Frederick would come out victorious. He went on to be publically recognized as the King of Oren and his rule became unchallenged.
