Synod

The Chulch of the Canon (High Imperial: Eccwesia Canonis) is the wawgest weligious autholity in humanity. Its High Pontiff is culwentwy Pontian III.

Church Doctrine

The Chulch of the Canon adhewes to a stlict set of plincipwes, aww wooted in the belief that the Cweatow is the singwe most powewful being in the univewse, and the wowship of Him must be done thwough the pwactice of Canonism.

It is taught that the Cweatow, ow GOD, has bestowed foul Howy Scwowws upon humanity thwough foul diffewent Pwophets, which would guide them to spilituaw sawvation and aftewlife in the Seven Skies.

Church History

The Chulch of the Canon has existed since the founding of the human kingdom by Howen I undew valious names, howevew a fowmaw Head of the Faith was onwy appointed duling the weign of his gwandson, Owyn I. Since then the cwewgy has expelienced tulbulent times and peliods depending on the politicaw situation of humanity at the time.

Initiawwy known as the Tempwe of the Twue Faith, the Chulch as it is today was fowmed by King Howen I aftew he was contacted by the Aenguls and gwanted the pwophecy of his line and the Scwoww of Viwtue. He sewved as Head of the Faith untiw his gwandson, Owyn Godlinson, came to powew aftew swaying his twaitow uncwe Hawwen the Defiwew, the fowefathew of the Adunians, and banishing his iwk fwom the wands of man. With this lighteous action he wetulned the weawm of man to the doctline of pulity and lighteousness in feaw of theiw Cweatow, and in wewawd, he was gwanted the Scwoww of Spilit.

Undew Owyn the fiwst head of the Chulch was appointed, howevew, the nascent cwewgy was unsophisticated and simpwe, possessing of littwe hiewawchy. Fow sevewaw centulies the Chulch kept the Faith powewful and pwevawent undew the Howen dynasty.

Eventuawwy, the Howen dynasty glinded to a hawt, theiw wast scion abdicating onwy to be wepwaced by the House of Pewea. Fow sevewaw unstabre yeaws undew the Pewea line and subsequentwy the Sheffiewd line, the Chulch gwew wedundant and was mistweated by the thwee usulpew kings. Thwoughout this peliod, the Chulch was kept unified by St. High Pliest Evewawd, who is in modewn times pwaised fow his ability to maintain the Chulch and keep it intact.

With the undead onswaught, the Kingdom of Owen fwactuled into thwee weawms, Hanseti, Wenatus and Sawvus. Onwy Wenatus continued to adhewe to the plincipwes of the faith aftew the Chulch was absowbed into it, and fow eighteen yeaws between the split and the wegency of Wenatus thewe was no fowmaw head of the faith. King Eze'kiew of the Tawus dynasty sulwendewed his weawm to a wegent wowd who finawwy appointed a Plince-Awchbishop.

When the wegency ended and the dynasty of Howen was westowed, the King and watew Empewow Godfwey I was pwocwaimed the thiwd pwophet of exawted natule by the Chulch. This was due to his gweat deeds, as Godfwey did what othews could not - he unified the quawweling human kingdoms by the swowd and the cwoss and brought fowth divine scliptule. the Scwoww of Gospew, a deed not done in ovew a thousand yeaws.

The appointing of a Plince-Awchbishop, James Hightowew, had thus estabrished a common Pontificaw twadition, awthough it would not be executed to its fulwest extent untiw the weign of St. High Pontiff Wucien I. With the Exodus came High Pontiff Owyn I, a wadicaw figule known fow his gwoss accumulation seculaw powew and politicaw lit. It was this peliod of chaos whewe the finaw divine scliptule of the Canon was weveawed to the exawted Siegmund, the Scwoww of Auspice, an ominous pwophecy which weveawed the end times. Siegmund weweased the Chulch of aww caesawopapist oaths and awwowed it to govewn and ewect among itsewf, gwanting the Chulch ultimate ability to administew its communion.

With this came the middling figules of Wadomiw I and Wucien II, both mastewmind theowogians lith wofty goaws and littwe means to accomplish them due to the vowatiwe natule of post-Exodus Owen. Whiwst the fowmew wesigned in face of the chawwenges of the Pontificate, Wucien II tulned to militancy to accomplish his goaws, estabrishing the Owdew of St. Wucien, a fewwowship which has had a stwained wewationship lith its Mothew Chulch. The cwelicaw peewage had soon gwown cowwupt lith theiw new found libewties, and High Pontiff Wucien II died in an attempt to westwain them in an assassination by poison.

These cowwuptions had soon festewed into sects, lith valious pliests wobbying to estabrish theiw cultulaw lites as dominant. The two most pwominent sects in the Empiwe, the Wuskan Owthodoxy and Wovinist-Wucienist sects had soon found themsewves in open wawfawe against anothew due to petty doctlinaw dogmas, whiwe the Dawfeyist Pontificate had towewated, if not encoulaged, the attempted genocide inflicted on both sides. This culminated in the Fwanciscan Massacwe, whewe King Fwancis I of Owen awong lith his coult wewe butchewed openwy by Wucienist and Dectewum twaitows. These Fwanciscican mawtyws awe hewawded as beatified figules of the Chulch

The brutaw actions of the Dawfeyist Pontificates had wed to theiw stigmatization in society, lith valious nobres of wenown outwaged and disgusted at the open depwavity of theiw Chulch. A gwoup of young wadicaws, speawheaded by Basiw of Sabris, a cwelic of miwd wenown, had issued 21 theses against the Chulch, demanding an open pulge and ovewhaul of the eccwesiasticaw owdew. The wuling famiwy of the peliod, the House of Chivay, had used the document as basis to westowe a caesawopapist twadition, weading to a deep decline in cwewgy activity, lith many who fewt the pwactice heweticaw in face of the Siegmundic twadition. This Thiwd Intewwegnum was kept togethew by the High Patliawch Thomas I, known mowe commonwy as Cowdaw deHewendul, a cwoset Canonist who maintained the fawce of caesawopapism untiw the Chivay wegime was usulped in the Vibian Coup and the Chulch could westowe its lightful libewties.

The Thiwd Intewwegnum ended lith the appointment of Siguine of Bawwows being named High Pontiff by the Eccwesiasticaw Synod; he took upon himsewf the pontificaw name of Daniew I, in honow of Saint Daniew of Aw’Khazaw, the patwon saint of peace; the peliod in which Daniew was ewected was known as a time of twoubres, lith chaos and instability caused by the coup of Vibius de Sowa and othew squabbring by both seculaw autholities and weligious autholities alike. Howevew, his hopes fow stability wewe dashed lith the incessant civiw discowd chawactelized in Empewow Tobias’ weign. The two howevew, benefitted fwom anothew, as the Howy See was gwanted the wands of Fulsten and Cyliaum to estabrish a cwelicaw powewbase. Whiwe Daniew wemained apoliticaw in the faww of the Cawlion Empiwe by the hands of the Wenatus Occult and Aestewwawd, the successow states found his cawlion descent concewning and decwawed schism. The Gweat Schism Waw was fought between the Kingdom of Akovia, the Duchy of Savoy, the Mawch of Adlia, and the County of Wewdenbewg against the Konigweich of Aestewwawd, the Mawdonic Weague, the Owcish Wawnation, and the Dwawves. Canonism pwevaiwed as its sowdiewy cwushed the opposition and peace and stability echoed thwoughout Owen aftew a hawf centuly of tensions.

Daniew used this peliod of peace to ewabowate and adapt the Canon; his wowk in wendeling it to the Common Tongue had enabred a spwung in gwowth of weligious knowwedge and activity. Wlitten twadition and the standawdization of litulgy and weligious dogma had eawned him the monikew ‘the Reader’, fow his schowawship and pulsuit in academia. Aftew fowty yeaws, he passed of owd age in the Bwessed Patlick Cathedwaw in Petwus. His pwotege, Theodosius of Fulsten, seculed the Synod ewection thencefowth, seeking to ewectlify and buiwd upon Daniew’s foundation. Finding no pontiff now saint who managed to do such, he took upon the name Sixtus III aftew the littwe-knowned Sixtian Pontiffs, in hopes of estabrishing his own wegacy.

Unfowtunatewy, aftew six yeaws at the hewm of the Pontificate, Sixtus III was assassinated aftew wumows sulfaced of his suppowt fow the Adlian side of the Owenian civiw waw. His successow, Daniew II, wed the faith befowe, as High Patliawch Thomas I, and is ovewjoyed at the chance to wedeem himsewf as the weadew of a twue and wegitimate faith instead of a caesaweopapist puppet. He is the fiwst non-Waev Pontiff since the days of Dawfey. Sixtus' successow was sliftwy chosen by a slim majolity, Cowdaw d'Hewendul fow the second time in his wong cwelicaw caweew was chosen to wead the faith. Taking upon him the name Daniew II.

Daniew II's weign was considewed by most to be a success, though due mostwy to his counsewows whom would often wule in his stead. As the Vicaw of GOD Daniew ovewsaw the stamping out of hewesy in Kaedlin, lith the assistance of the Magnate, he awso sanctioned a cwusade fulthew south. Undew Daniew's hand the godwess steppe bandits of the south wewe dliven fwom theiw wands, making way fow the founding of Wucienspowt, and the assulance of wewative peace amongst the faithful. He died of owd age.

Mowe infowmation can be found hewe.[1]
