Timeline
- 1637:
- Immediately following the end of the War of the Beards, the Kingdom of Norland declares war against the Holy Orenian Empire, hoping to avenge their defeat at the Sack of Seahelm nearly a century ago.
- The city of Adelburg is couped by Lord Canonius. Emperor John VI is slain and beheaded, his body paraded through the city.
- 1638:
- The Norlandic host engages the host of Imperial remnants outside the city of Adelburg, easily defeating them at the Battle of the Bloody Road.
- 1639:
- The Norlandic victory permitted them to siege the city of Adelburg, not knowing that the city had fallen to the newly established Kingdom of Renatus just a few years prior. Upon hearing of their mistake, King Javier lifted the siege and marched his forces back to Norland.
- Clashes between pagans within the Kingdom of Santegia and the Order of Saint Lucien cause King Leo I to exile Canonist clergy and denounce High Pontiff Everard IV.
- Everard IV declares Holy Crusade against the Kingdom of Santegia and the Kingdom of Norland.
- Minor skirmishes occur, resulting in multiple victories for the Crusaders.
- 1640:
- The King of Norland, Javier Ruric, and the crowned Prince, his son, Jevan Ruric, marched a small party of Norlanders to Metz. The Norlanders stifled what little resistance they met, entering the city with ease and slaughtering the opposing forces.
- The Crusaders take the offensive, marching their combined hosts out from the city of Adelburg. They meet the Norlanders in combat once more on the bloody road, resulting in a decisive victory for the Crusaders, leaving Norland crippled for further attacks.
- After a defeat at the Second Battle of the Bloody Road The Kingdom of Norland's troops march onward to the capital of Santegia to quell the raid by Renatus soldiers. Though they fought heroically, the Norlanders were vastly outnumbered and killed by the invading forces.
