Riga War
After Duke Richard retired, his youngest son became the Duke of Courland (Anden Staunton), a young and arrogant boy.(Tetoia den grafeis sto wiki). It was then when Ser Demetrius began his long journey to find Richard’s oldest son, Alexander Staunton, in order to install him in the Duchy as Duke, the rightful heir of Courland. At 1552, when Ser Demetrius returned from his journey with success, Duke Anden’s spies informed the Duke about the news. Therefore, he revoked the Barony and gave it to House Vanir. After the events that occurred, Anden hanged himself and thus Alexander was able to take control of Courland. Ser Demetrius was awarded the fief of Pyrgos for his services and later on, he and Duke Alexander planned on re-taking Kraken’s Watch so it could return to its rightful ruler. The Storming of Kraken's Watch began as the first strike by Courland in the Riga War. Although later being expelled following the Siege of Kraken's Watch, Ser Demetrius proved himself once more in the Battle of Westmark during which he slew Ser Peter Barbanov’s horse, which led to his captivity.
Death
Throughout the course of the Riga War, Ser Demetrius spent a great deal of his time in the Duchy of Courland. Upon the betrayal of Percival Staunton II, he, like almost the entirety of Courland, was opposed to the peace treaty, and found himself in Courland. However, he was caught off guard with the rest of the army during the Sacking of Riga. During this, he was captured, and ended up being executed by a Carnatian Soldier, though to most, his fate remained a mystery.
Legacy
Ser Demetrius fought in many battles during the Riga War. For this, among other acts of loyalty and he was later credited, when he was declared a War Hero by Tobias Staunton. Ser Demetrius' Reign as Baron of Kraken's Watch lasted 20 years (1549-1569). This established the precedent of the higher status of House Palaiologos, which they would continue to hold, later becoming vassals under the Kingdom of Lotharingia, Kingdom of Courland, and finally under the Kingdom of Santegia.
