The House of Preussens, or simply House Preussens, is a cadet branch of the House of Horen, and the former ruling house of both the Kingdom of Vandoria and the Kingdom of Lotharingia. They previously held the fortress of Caer Ostwick, and the title 'Prince of Pruvia'. The current head of House Preussens is Eleanor Preussens.
Following their appointment of nobility in the Kingdom of Haense, an agreement was made in 1704, simplifying the house's name to simply Preussens, in order to represent their solidarity as a cadet house. In 1721, the House Preussens was granted permission by King Andrew III of Haense to return to the Imperial Crownlands, as vassals to their cousins of the House of Cascadia.

As House Horen-Preussens
The original line of House Horen-Preussens originates from Godfrey, King of Vandoria following his elevation to the position in 1547. Inheriting a weary and war-torn kingdom, the legitimized baseborn son of John I, Holy Orenian Emperor founded the House of Horen-Preussens to establish his own ruling line, separate from that of his father's own. However, in 1562, Godfrey abdicated in favor of his young son, John-Leopold. The reign of young John, known to be more prone to frivolity and expedience rather than truly learning to govern, was troubled from the start. The kingdom fell into steady decline, each of the remaining vassal lords ruling their own lands almost like petty kingdoms. In 1563, only a year into John's reign, a farfolk man known as Ashruf Kaneen served as a rally point for the wayward lords of Vandoria, declaring a great rebellion against the teenage King in favor of Kaneen, a descendant of the House Kharadeen. The war would continue until 1566, where John-Leopold was officially deposed and the his kingdom dissolved, the former Vandorian lands being used to form a Sultanate for Ashruf and his supporters.
The House of Horen-Preussens would not see much activity or hold much presence until 1595. A granddaughter of Godfrey Preussens, Anna Sophia, was granted the titular title of Princess of Pruvia following the dissolution of the Holy Orenian Empire. The young woman, recently widowed, would take the weight of restoring her grandfather's house upon her shoulders, moving from her late husband's home in the Kingdom of Haense to the southern Kingdom of Lotharingia. She would find much in the way of companionship there, between her cousin Charlotte Sophia and a princess of Norland, Estelle Ruric de Frey.
The kingdom, ruled by Lothar I of Lotharingia, was in a slow and steady decline. The boiling point for the King's remaining two vassals, the House of Horen-Preussens and the House of Ashford de Anjou, was the tearing down of the capital city, Metz. The King's own council, practically empty besides the young boy's close relatives, had no plan in place to restore the city and life to their nation. Following unease among her own council, the young Preussens' chamberlain, Aylwin Blaxton, conspired to place Anna upon the throne as Queen. This coup, and Anna's year-long reign as the Queen of Lotharingia, would end in 1607 with her attempted assassination and assumed death. Her lands and titles would pass to her brother Frederick, who would aid in the restoration of the Holy Orenian Empire under Peter II, Holy Orenian Emperor. It is rumored that the pair conspired to have the Princess killed, as they only required the amount of lands that encompassed a part of her kingdom to reform the Imperial throne. The House of Horen-Preussens would rule from their princely seat until 1616, where the lands and titles of Pruvia were granted, through eternal regency, to Stephen I of Haense. The family themselves would slowly retreat to the lands of Marna in Aeldin, falling back once more into relative obscurity.
