Carolustadt (High Imperial: Caroli Civitas, Raev: Karlgrad, Hansetian: Karl Ciutad, Illatian: Città di Carlo, Nevarian: Karlstad), a past Capital of the Empire of Man served as the Cosmopolitan hub from which the Empire exerted its influence upon the rest of Atlas. It boasted itself as a home for all humans, Heartlanders, Highlanders, and Farfolk alike. The City acted as the primary holding of the House of Horen, who resided far above the common folk in the sky-reaching Caesaromagnus Palace.

History

Construction

In the year of 1675, then King Aurelius decreed that a new city be built which would house the capital of the Crown of Renatus-Marna, replacing the Kingdom's former city of Senntisten. It was a long, and arduous process that consumed much of the nation's manpower. Much of the forests in the area were cleared, and the new city was raised where the trees had stood. Large amounts of stone were excavated from the mountains of Dragon's Spine, and carted down towards the build area. The construction of the city was said to have boosted the economy greatly, employing many Renatian men and women alike.

Namesake

The City of Carolustadt was named after the father of Aurelius, Carolus Horen. In Waldenian, the name essentially translates to Carolus's City.

Geography

The Imperial City of Carolustadt was situated in the foothills at the base of the Huckery Highlands. It's position put it not far off from the main road that ran the length of Atlas. From these imposing runs the River Stiegel, a tributary of the River Baltas.
