The Battle of the Lone Island also known as the Conquest of the Holy Lands was a naval engagement which took place on 11th of the Deep Cold, 1399 in the Renatus Holy Lands as the consolidation of the House of Amador's hold on the Archipelago. Prodominantly a human conflict, though some High Elves were killed or captured during the fighting, the battle is not well known.

Background

As the Kingdom of Renatus and the Kingdom of Salvus expanded beyond their homelands, the Holy Lands as they would later be known became of great interest to the Church of the True Faith, asking for their colonization so to allow prilgrims to the area. The Kingdom of Salvus was not much interested in these overtures, however the Kingdom of Renatus was receptive. Jack & Jiraiya of the House of Amador, spotting the potential for a land-grab, took what resources they had and founded the settlement of Vendere in 1362, before the Kingdom of Renatus could lay claim to them. Fearing reprisal for their land-grab, Vendere would later merge with the High-Elven settlement of Ceru and become the County of Crestfall, led by Count Jack Amador. Over the following years, Crestfall would voluntarily bend its knee to the Kingdom of Renatus. This did not alleviate the fears of the neighbouring islands, who began to mobilise. Seeking a pre-emptive strike, Jack hit first.

Battle

The ships of the House of Amador loaded bannermen from the Port City of Crestfall at Dawn and set sail through the straits to make their way to Tarrel. As they approached, they boldly hoisted the colours of the House and were fired upon with enflamed Ballistae, bringing one Hulk to catch alight and killing its company of bannermen. The other ships landed and charged the stout keep with steadfast opposition. Bringing a battering ram from one of the Amador vessels, fashioned from a scuttled tug boat, Arthur Amador broke the gates and stormed in.

Leaving a garrison, under the command of Ser Jon Norsem, Jack Amador kept the momentum of his initiative to strike and set sail for the Holy Islands. It was the twilight hours when they approached the settlement, only to find that it had been largely abandoned to its fate, with the villagers pleading for mercy from the victorious Count Jack and capturing the isle without blood being spilt.

Aftermath

Upon hearing of the consolidation of the Holy Lands via the Conquest of Tarrel & the Holy Island, Count Jack Amador was raised to the title of Duke of the Holy Lands by Pontifical Decree, leading to Jiraiya Amador being named Count of Crestfall and Ser Jon Norsem being named Baron of Tarrel. This paved the way for nearly twenty years of peace in the Renatus Holy Lands until the population emigrated to Elysium
