The Battle of Mount Gorgon was the first battle in the Coalition War, though at this point, it had yet to be called such and instead was usually referred to something along the lines of "The Second Dwarven War", as an official name was never created. This battle, while it was a victory for Oren, ultimately effected the outcome of the war very little, as Oren and its allies would never follow up on this victory.

Prelude

For years since the collusion of the Eighteen Years' War, humanity and the dwarves had been at peace, however stable. Men and dwarves got along for years. However, over the years, Oren had slowly been expanding its sphere of influence, trying to establish dominance over other groups, primarily for their support or membership of the Axis Coalition. With the War of Orcish Submission, the surrender of the Dreadlands, and the defeat of the Snow Elves, Oren had slowly been wiping out its enemies. With the destruction of the Snow Elves' nation, the dwarves stood as one of the only nations left which had recently opposed Oren.

With the defeat of the Snow Elves and Orcs, both sought refuse in the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. Due to this, Oren sought saw this as a violation of the treaty they had signed with Urguan at the end of the Eighteen Years' War. They issued an ultimatum, demanding that Urguan release them in order to preserve the peace. Urguan refused to surrender them, thus causing Oren to attack them. Oren rallied its allies, and then marched on the Dwarves, leading to the battle.

Battle

The battle opened as both sides they poured over the tops of the two mountains creating the valley, and began opening fire with bows. Although there were two bridges, only the largest of the two played a large key in the battle. Urguan and their allies poured across the bridge first. They tried to push back into the Orenian lines, put to no avail. While a few tried to outflank on the other, small bridge, archers covered this bridge too heavily in order to try a larger attack. There was no true, grand strategy which took place in this battle.

Throughout the battle, no side managed to gain a decisive edge to take the bridge. Each side kept trying to push forward, though it only increased the casualties as they grew higher and higher. Eventually, the troops of Urguan came to the realization that Oren would eventually wipe out all of their troops. Upon this realization, Urugan began pulling his troops back to to the nearby keep. A brave few stayed behind to hold off the Orenians and allow for their allies to escape. Eventually, the few remaining soldiers of Urugan left on the bridge pulled back off to try and get to the keep, though few actually ended up making it.

Aftermath

Following this, the Urguan and its allies holed up in the keep on Mount Gorgon and prepared for a siege. However, soon after the Orenian troops retreated back to Johannesburg in order to prepare to march on the orcs. Meanwhile, the majority of Urguan and its allies left in order to defend the War Nation of Krugmar. In the end, this battle ended up having little to no effect on the outcome of the war, since Oren abandoned its advantage from the battle in order to try and wipe out the orcs once more.
