Prelude

Before the war began the Grand Kingdom of Urguan was in a rebuilding state, constructing its new capital of Kal'Ithrun in an attempt to consolidate the Dwarven populace. In Oren, House Silverblade and House Tarus prepared to rebel against Oren. The goal was to have House Tarus become the ruling family with the support of nearly half of the Kingdom. When the rebellion finally declared war the Grand Kingdom of Urguan reluctantly joined in support of it after being convinced by House Silverblade.

The Rebellion and the Dwarves marched on Scatternberg and ended up taking refuge in the nearby Shadowcastle. The defending force sallied out and crossed the bridge to reach the attackers in the Shadowcastle. Due to failures in breaching the walls of the besieged fort the army was held up in the castle. The Orenian defenders advanced and pushed the Rebellion and the Dwarves out of Shadowcastle, losing them the battle. The rebellion soon after capitulated and a period of time passed with just Oren and Dwarves at war.

The Ithrun Front

A month after word was received of an Orenian invasion marching south. The dwarves prepared and constructed Fort Thoringrad on the bridge that spanned the Crossing. The fort withstood many skirmishes and raiding parties sent to test its defenses. When the siege finally came however, a traitorous human mercenary opened the gates for the Oreners and the dwarves retreated into their keep. There the dwarves dig in for a lengthy siege and a while passes before a renewed offensive. The Orenian siege engineers launched a boulder cursed with dark magic that blew a massive crater into the Dwarven bunker.

This defeat caused the Dwarven defense to retreat to Fort Indagolaf, which was an underground defensive stronghold on the road to Kal'Ithrun. After the retreat the dwarves immediately dug in, creating a mile-long front around the fallen Fort Thoringrad. Behind the front on an island in the Ithrun Lake the Lakefort was built and served as a defensive fallback point if the dwarves were overrun. Back and forth the battle waged on, day and night there was never a calm on the front. After nearly a month of conflict the Orenian Army alongside the Orcs and Elves broke through and besieged Indagolaf. The Orenian Army attempted many tries but each time they tried to charge down the hall they would be shot from the sides and massacred. After many attempts the Orenian army stopped their assault, only to be met by a Dwarven charge that routed them back to Thoringrad.

Following the defeat the Rexdom of Krugmar requested an honor battle with the Grand Kingdom in their desert. The dwarves agreed and won the battle, taking the Orcish nation out of the war on a white peace. Fighting along the front continued on for nearly another month before peace was made. Thoringrad was demolished and ceded to the Cloud Temple and the Orenian Army was sent home.

Impact

The Ithrun War prompted a grudge between the dwarves of Urguan and the men of Oren, eventually leading to the War of Zion in The Fringe.
