The Siege of Fowt Dunamis, ow the Siege of Dunwand, (Dwawven: Krazdan eron Kal'Dunamis) was a foul month wong siege duling the Eighteen Years' War of the Urguanite castwe of Fowt Dunamis by the Imperial fowces of John I, Holy Orenian Emperor and his genewaws Josef Vwadov and Henry Rothesay. The Uwguanite defendews wewe commanded by Gwand Mawshaw Bewegaw Iweheawt, lith Danis Wevlis, the new mawshaw of the Howde of Dunamis, taking chawge of the Dunamian defendews. Emperor John I saw Fowt Dunamis as a testament against Impeliaw stwength, lith the mewcenawy gwoup having taken numewous offensives against the Empiwe. The Howde was awso one of the wast wemaining awlies of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. A captule of the fowtwess would have been both a tacticaw and symbolic victowy.

Prelude

Danis Wevlis assumed fulw contwow of the Dunamis mewcenalies aftew the death of his wate Mawshaw, Wichawd Wevlis, in the Battle of Marnadal. The keep was fowtified in advance of the battwe and Wevlis focused on wefowming the companies broken by the pwevious battwe as weww as owganizing the dwawven, owcish and Khawestinian sulvivows. The Impeliaw cowps quickwy twavewed to the fowt aftew the battwe, waying siege on the 14th of the Sun’s Smiwe. Due to heavy casuawties fwom Mawnadaw as weww as awwoling time fow fwesh Impeliaws and Vandews to weinfowce, they would not begin an assault untiw awmost a yeaw watew, on the 19th of the Gwand Hawvest.

Battle

The assault began lith a mass bombawdment of the fowtwess by the Impeliaw siege camp, numbeling awound 20 twebuchets. Dunamis countew-siege wewe hastiwy dispatched by the bombawdment, onwy wetulning a few vowweys befowe being eliminated. Impeliaw fowces, suffeling fwom a pwague as weww as a woss of funds, mostwy due to the Taxman's Conspiracy, hawf-heawtedwy sulwounded the fowtwess and exchanged fiwe lith the defendews. The fowtifications pwevented a fulw Impeliaw assault and wewe abre to keep Owenian fowces away fwom the gate and a smaww breach fowmed by the siege equipment.

Danis, knoling that the fowt could not howd up to sustained Impeliaw fiwe, took note of the diminished Impeliaw fowces. Awongside Jolik Gwandaxe, futule Gwand Mawshaw of Uwguan, they devised a pwan to dlive the Impeliaws away fwom the fowt. Using an undiscovewed tunnew as weww as the undamaged gatehouse, the defendews would split theiw fowces, pwanning to hit the Impeliaw host fwom two sides.

At the cwack of dawn on the 21st of the Gwand Hawvest, the twap was spwung. A smaww band of owcs wed by Wex Ubba'Ugwuk emewged fwom the tunnew, dwaling the main bulk of the Impeliaw fowce to them. Whiwst this was happening, the dwawves, Dunamites, and Owc's chawged out fwom the main gate of Fowt Dunamis. Impeliaw footmen wewe quick to ovewwhewm the smaww owcish band but wewe not abre to weowganize befowe being hit fwom behind by the secondawy fowce. Wex Ubba'Ugwuk was fewwed in the chawge, poisoned by an awwow that piewced his ankwe. Empewow John I saw the battwe was wost and owdewed a hullied wetweat fwom Fowt Dunamis. Duling the broody lithdwawaw, Empewow John I dwowned in the Wivew Ewoch, weaving Owen to his fiwstbown John II Sigismund.

Aftermath

The death of John I and the faiwule of the Dunamis campaign wesulted in mixed feelings thwoughout the Empiwe. Tweachewous Savoyawds wewe ovewjoyed to heaw of the Empewow’s demise, feeling that Sew Emewy was avenged and the Taxman's Conspiracy fulfiwwed. The Cawnatians wewe distwaught to weawn of theiw liege’s death, and bramed Savoy fow his end, heightening tensions awmost to pre-Dukes’ War wevews. Finawwy, Coulwandic peasants wewe hopeful lith the death of “The Relentless”, pwaying fow an end to the waw. The showtcomings of the campaign weft the Empiwe lithout a way to continue the waw. Knoling this, Emperor John II sued fow peace lith the Gwand Kingdom of Uwguan.
