He was raised by his Father how to fight and how to govern effectively, as Juan was the Head Steward and Hand of the Crown. After his Father's death, the young boy was granted his Father's titles by King Cesar of Hyspia

Inheritance

After the death of his Father, Carlos inherited his father's belongings which included but were not limited to; the Mendez family estate, Juan Mendez's armor and weaponry, and the titles of Head Steward and Hand of the Crown. Soon after his inheritance was gained, he began his administrative career.

Military Career

Carlos started his military career by undertaking training by the close friend of Juan Mendez, Jose Santiago, he trained Carlos for years after Juan Mendez died, acting as a father figure to Carlos they undertook many jobs and formed the Hyspian Independence Guard starting when they left Arcas. Despite being responsible for administrative duties, Carlos found himself enjoying the combative aspect of his career more. At the age of 15, he was given command of a small detachment of the Army to search the outskirts of the Kingdom for any outlaw activity, and engaged in a handful of minor skirmishes with smaller outlaw gangs. Soon after, Carlos was given the task of rallying a large portion of the Army to go on the Hyspian Expedition, which was a military campaign against the several scattered outlaw outposts. In just a few months, Carlos successfully located several outlaw outposts and cleared them out. After this, King Cesar himself knighted the young Mendez for his command prowess and his determination against the bandit threat.

Lordship

After the discovery of an old document written by Cesar I of Hyspia, which decreed that the Mendez family was to be recognized as a noble family of the Hyspian nation. As his father was dead by the time of the decree's resurfacing, Carlos was declared the Lord of House Mendez. Since then, he has began to grow his Family's influence by adopting Jerrito Juarez as his Brother. He then began courting a young elf lady who quickly became pregnant with his Child. As Cross breeding was allowed by Osanoran law, Carlos was able to get away with it.

After fathering his Son with Peralien, he focused on primarily raising up his Son and his Family. This Son, Fernando Mendez, would become the new heir to House Mendez and is expected by Carlos to take the reigns of lordship after his death. Nonetheless, Carlos has continued his Lordship in Hyspia by helping to train and reorganize the Hyspian Nationalist Army. After having protected Antonio I of Hyspia from an assassination plot, he was temporarily named the Lord Regent of Hyspia until he eventually resigned to Francisco Altamirano for his pro-osanoran sentiment and his fear for his life which stood against the Hyspian ideals of Independence.

Exile from Hyspia

After Carlos was exiled from Hyspia around 1801 for the attempted murder of Antonio De Medina He was taken in by Einar Olavsson Kvitravn where he was given shelter in the Kvitravn Manor in Varhelm. Carlos went under the name of Floki Olsen where he helped Einar with jobs and work around the clan, he converted to the red faith and made friends with Einar's sons and adopted son Methas, Methas had a previous relationship with Peralien Mirthsense which drove Carlos to anger which ended with Peralien almost dying and Methas losing two fingers. Carlos eventually started a relationship with Valeria Zonatie, A relationship which he later ended after figuring out Peralien wasn't dead. One day in 1802 Javier Francisco visited the Kvitravn manor and was let in by Valeria, Carlos and Javier ended up in a fight after their friendship spiraled out of control, caused by Peralien, Carlos' spouse and Javier getting into a fight, resulting in Peralien's close brush with death. During the fight, Javier stabbed a longsword through Carlos' chest. Carlos barely clung to life, though surviving to live another day. This fight mentally changed Carlos, scarring him, a month later Peralien returned to Varhelm to visit Carlos, She provoked the Kvitravns into a fight and lost horribly and Felix Einarsson Kvitravn then took the weak body and threw her down a mineshaft. Felix swiftly told Carlos what he did, Carlos then started an investigation, trying to get Felix arrested. The Norlandic Marshal, that being Donovan Freysson then held large suspicion that Carlos was lying, the Norlanders then brutally branded Carlos on the chest, a scarred and wounded Carlos then moved back to Osanora, legally with Peralien Mirthsense. With the help of Francisco Altamirano his exile was revoked and Jerrito Mendez who inherited the titles of Carlos when he was exiled, handed back the titles back to Carlos, thus ending the Exile from Hyspia.

Involvement in the Hyspian Schism

With the move to Norland, Carlos was among the many Hyspians who converted to the Red Faith. This meant that when Antonio I of Hyspia expressed his thoughts on joining the Red Faith, Carlos was on board with the idea. He and House Mendez backed the Prince, earning Antonio's favor over the Altamiranos, who opposed the idea. The Prince was eventually converted to the Red Faith, beginning the Hyspian Schism. After the Altamiranos had left Hyspia and Norland, Carlos was appointed the Regent to replace Francisco. Again, Carlos and his Family along with a majority of the Hyspians supported the Prince, and Carlos personally accompanied the Prince during the Confrontation at Osanora which was a standoff between the Kingdom of Hyspia and the Schismatic House Altamirano

Involvement in Osanoran Politics

Carlos took an interest in Osanoran Politics from the very beginning of his time living there, he was placed on the Osanoran Corte in his early twenties, he held that for about a year until him and the rest of the Hyspian's were ejected from Osanora. Carlos returned many years later near the end of his exile from Hyspia, when his current lover Peralien Mirthsense gave Carlos shelter, his exile from both Osanora and Hyspia was revoked later that year. Carlos started his career off sprinting, running unopposed for Osanoran Minister of Housing, securing him on a seat on the Corte, along with being made the head of the Osanoran Militia, Maestre De Campo by Felipe De Medina. Once securing his position in Osanora he started by evicting the unpaid apartments, along with forming the Guard into a formidable force against local banditry, thus by helping set up the Guard Post, doing regular checks and attending Cerulean Army trainings.
