Louis Owyn Haverlock (Born Louis Owyn de Joannes), also known as Prince Louis, Louis of Sedan, Louis of Talentine, or officially as Louis, Count of Talentine, is the second son of Frederick I, Prince of Sedan and was the claimed Prince of the Haverlocks and Count of Talentine. He is the progenitor of the House of Haverlock, a cadet branch of the House de Joannes which he founded after a split between Louis and his nephew Frederick II. He also briefly served as the Lord Marshal of Sedan for two years before resigning due to wishing to pursue a career within the United Kingdom of Aaun. He is the founder of the County of Talentine, a title given to him during his service to the United Kingdom of Aaun

Early Life

Born in the Royal Capital of Louisville in the year 1871 to Prince Frederick I and Princess-Consort Amicia Ludovar, Louis had a relatively stable upbringing. Being the second born son, Louis was educated in manners of warfare and military as he was expected to run the Principality of Sedan's military when he came of age. From a young age Louis did not show much interest in administrative matters and often preferred to dive into history studies, especially that of his homeland Sedan. Louis did not spend much of his young life in Louisville as he and his entire family moved from Louisville to Joannesport after the officialization of Sedan as an independent state under the rule of his Father. Louis' life remained relatively calm in his younger years, though as he entered his teenage years he began to establish a habit of rebellious behavior - especially on the topic of marriages.

As the second born of the reigning Monarch (and as a result the second in line to the throne), Louis' Father and older brother Joseph attempted to set up a handful of matches with the young Louis. To their frustration, Louis would stubbornly refuse to engage in arranged marriages and openly stated his preference to marry for love. Although his father Frederick eventually accepted that his Son could not be convinced to enter an arranged marriage, Joseph and Louis continued to have frequent discussions on the matter until Louis eventually befriended a handmaiden by the name of Olenna Gorgo - the Handmaiden of Joseph's wife Augustina, The Snapdragon Princess. Louis and Olenna took a liking to each other and grew closer over the years of their youth.

Young Adulthood

As a young man, Louis quickly familiarized himself with the Sedanian Military and enlisted. Although he was a Prince, Louis would constantly insist on being given front-line missions so he could prove himself on the field of battle. Despite Sedan being in a time of peace, Louis would often ask to be put on patrols to fight against Bandits or other external and internal threats of Sedan. It is around this time that the Serheim Crusade, launched by High Pontiff Pontian IV, was declared. Louis' father Frederick I immediately pledged Sedan's support for the crusade and for a time Louis was determined to use the Crusade as a means to prove his capabilities.

Even so, tragedy would strike the Principality of Sedan in the year 1890 when a Serheim assassin snuck in to the Joannesport Basilica and attempted to assassinate the visiting High Pontiff. Frederick I immediately jumped in the way of the assassin's crossbow and was shot in the back of the skull. Louis, standing right behind his Father, witnessed the entire event occurring and immediately attempted to carry his Father to the hospital. Even so, the medics of Sedan could do little and Frederick I, Prince of Sedan succumbed to his wounds surrounded by Louis, Joseph, and their younger brother Peter. The event had a profound effect on Louis for the rest of his life and he forever after held his Father in high regard as a martyr. Even so, the loss of his Father devastated Louis for a time.

Marshal of Sedan

After the passing of Frederick I, Louis' older brother Joseph ascended to the throne as Joseph I, Prince of Sedan. Lacking a Marshal to lead Sedan's forces, Joseph called upon Louis to lead the forces of Sedan. Louis accepted and did his best to maintain the Sedanian Army. Yet, factors outside of Louis' control would not allow him to mobilize the Sedanian Military to its full potential. Joannesport had gradually declined in population meaning that Louis had a difficult time of recruiting from the local citizens. Joseph's reign was also notably quiet with many citizens up and leaving due to unhappiness with Joseph's relatively quiet reign.

Four years into his reign, Joseph stepped down and disappeared from public life and led to the popular misconception that Joseph had died. Louis, having also believed that his Brother had died, resigned from his post a year later during the reign of his nephew Frederick II, Prince of Sedan.
