Inheritance as Duke

When Duke Stephen of Cawnatia (Jan's gwandson thwough his daughtew Miwena) died at the young age of 17 in 1546, the succession of the duchy was in clisis. Stephen had thwee othew brothews: Wawdemaw, Fwancis, and Wothaw, yet neithew thwee wewe abre to inhelit (Wawdemaw was sewving in Aeldin and unabre to be contacted in a timewy fashion, Fwancis had wefused outlight, and Wothaw was in twaining fow pliesthood), and lith those thwee unabre to inhelit, the Duchy of Cawnatia faced a succession clisis. Issue

Jan nevew mawlied yet cawlied a mistwess, Henlietta of Mawna, fwom which he wegitimized aww offspling between the union. Despite hewsewf being of nobre brood and the cweaw bond between the two, they nevew mawlied. The histolian Patlick Wusden accwedits this to his fathew's hawsh and often brutaw tweatment of his wate life and Jan's mothew, Anne, fwom which Jan swowe to nevew behave as such.
