Elizaveta Roza (Common: Elizabeth Rose), of the House of Ruthern was a Queen-Consort of Hanseti-Ruska, renown for her diplomacy and educational efforts. She was the twin sister of Demetrius III, Duke of Vidaus, and daughter of Aildred Ruthern and Katherine of Ayr. With her marriage to Robert I of Haense, she became the Queen-Consort of Hanseti-Ruska. Elizaveta ascended the position in 1685, when she was wed to King Robert.

Biography

Early Life

Born on the 8th of Snow’s Maiden, 1665, alongside her twin, Demetrius Ruthern, the young Elizaveta was quickly torn from a life with her parents. Instead, she and her brother kept each other intact while they were raised by their grandfather, Rhys var Ruthern, the Lord Marshal of Haense.

In the early years of Elizaveta’s childhood, she was unable to walk properly which hindered her learning as a youthful girl. Rumors of a terrible sickness were often whispered amongst court regarding the Ruthern girl - a sickness so harsh that it took her ability to walk. Nonetheless, she persisted through the disability that had befallen her.

As her grandfather grew older and was unable to care for her as much with his onslaught of work, Elizaveta began to explore the city of Markev rather than stay within the confines of her home in Vidaus - the Ruthern Vassal. She was allowed to do such as she was constructed a wheelchair. With a sense of mobility again, Elizaveta explored all that she could.

Her explorations led to her roaming through the old barracks of Markev, in which she heard screams and cries of help in the distance. After alerting her grandfather and others, the group rushed through the old barracks to find two young children clutching each other in fear. Once the children were escorted out of the old room they were within, Elizaveta was introduced to Prince Robert and his sister, Princess Theodosia Isabel. The trio were quick to become the closest of friends, and Elizaveta was raised alongside the royal children. She would later meet another confidant and mentor, Swithun Aldor, that influenced most of her youth and later years.

With years passing by, Elizaveta and Theodosia stayed by each other’s sides - deeming each other as sisters despite their being no familial relation. All the while, her feelings for the Grand Prince of Kusoraev, Robert, began to flourish. She kept her emotions out of mind at first as she spent more time within the refines of the Theodosian Library, which she had helped remodel. If she was not in the library, she was in the treehouse she and her friends created back by the old barracks where they had met. Her interests in educational reforms and diplomacy, believed to have been sparked from her allegedly reading every book within the Theodosian Library.

Slightly past her years of adolescence, her sickness worsened. As said by courtiers, she was hopeful that she would begin to walk again as she felt the weakness in her legs lessen. However, she succumbed to a bed for months as she lost strength in most of her body. During this time, Prince Robert stayed by her side until he was forced to leave it. In his absence, Princess Theodosia or Elizaveta’s mentor and scribe, Swithun, would be there. She was on the brink of death by the end of it, seen by varying medics. After months of being in a state of near-death, recovery and improvement was seen within the young lady. Not long following her recovery, she engaged to the man she had come to love dearly, King Robert I of Haense.

Marriage

Bells rung throughout the city as Elizaveta's wedding day approached in the year of 1685. Many of the Haeseni people were fond of her, seeing her to be one of their own. A decently sized audience compromised of Haeseni nobility and commoners gathered within the Cathedral of Saints Karl and Otto as the young bride was readied for the ceremony.

As opposed to other lavishly dressed consorts-to-be, Elizaveta was not costly in her choice of a gown but unique instead. Instead of a purely white gown, she was adorned in pale green silk with a sheer white veil. Atop her braided coiffure was a tiara commissioned earlier in the month by a local Hansetian jeweler. The tiara consisted of sapphires and a gold base. Following the ceremony was a dinner within the Krempost Palace filled with cuisines from foreign lands and traditional Haeseni cuisines.

Elizaveta was known as a beloved Queen by her people, as she worked diligently for the people's education. She drew up plans to create her own educational system and schooling, as well as creating the Theodosian Imperial Academy, with the motto of forging humanity's future. The Academy included programs of study on imperial governance, history, language arts, biology, physical education, and religious studies. Each of the programs consisted of three semesters filled with different learning material to equip students. Alongside the semesters were academic events such as the Theodosian Ball and Graduation. All of such was planned and organized by the Queen Elizaveta, with the help of Princess Emma Ludovar and Lord Fabius Baruch. The school, however, only ran for a small amount of time before it was closed.

Rather than host events and work with courtly matters within the city, Elizaveta was the Crown Representative for Haense in the Empire as she found more interests with diplomacy. As a young lady, she often made foreign trips to the Elven lands to adjust diplomatic relations with the different races outside of humanity. Little did she sit out on meetings as well as she preferred to be as aware as possible of governmental ongoings.

Towards the end of her reign as Queen-Consort, she spent more time with her children. She was not seen as much by the Haeseni people comparatively to when she was a child or at the start of her ascension to the position of Queen. To her courtiers, signs of resentment towards the crown atop her head and all that came with it began to show. Despite such, she was known to be a good and caring mother to her children and proud of the talents and skills they obtained. For approximately three months after the death of her spouse, Robert, she was bestowed the title of Queen Mother. Little is known of what she did during this time as she was not frequently seen in public.

Death

Elizaveta was assassinated on the 11th of the Deep Cold, 1707, by an unknown assailant. When she was found laying on the ground with a pool of blood surrounding her, it was reported that she was bleeding out from numerous stab wounds across her chest and suffered many broken bones. The Queen was unable to move properly other than faint shifts. After the assassin fled, she was found by Henrik Kovachev who held her in her last moments before she drew her last breath.
