Demetrius Palaiologos

Ser Demetrius Palaiologos was a knight and baron in service to Duke Alexander of Courland and the former's father, Duke Richard. As a squire serving under the ducal family of Courland, he would be granted knighthood at the age of 21 as well as the former lands of Kraken's Watch, the seat of the old ducal family of Vanir.

He is most remembered for his notable opposition to the elevation of Anden to the ducal seat, later losing his castle for his collaboration with Anden's brother Alexander in 1552. After the suicide of Andrew a few years later, Demetrius would be one of the guards of Alexander as he rode into Riga, being bestowed new lands on the coast of the Frozen Sea. Ser Demetrius led the Courlander contingency in the surprising Storming of Kraken's Watch, capturing the castle and causing the bloody Riga War. Demetrius fought in majority of the battles to come, even successfully killing Ser Petyr Barbanov's (later King Peter of Hanseti-Ruska) in the victorious Battle of Redmark.

Following the fall of Riga in the Riga Coup, Demetrius was not seen again and is presumed dead.
