The Battle of Nordengrad was a major engagement between the Empire of Renatus and the Holy Orenian Empire, it ended in a decisive victory for the Empire of Renatus.

Prelude

The Kingdom of Norland had captured the traitor Caylus Caunter and brought them to the Norlandic capital of Dunharrow, the Haensetic King Marius II heard news of this and quickly rallied as many troops as possible to save his childhood friend. A Norlandic scout saw such a rally and sent news to King Alvar. Where he would send a raven to Helena, warning them of a oncoming attack.

Battle

From the walls of Dunharrow rang thrice, the invasion bells had sounded and echoed across the surrounding valley from the riverlands of Rodenburg to the farmlands of Leuven. The traitor chief who had sworn himself to the illegitimate Haense Emperor had been captured and brought below the ground to be stored safely away in Dunharrow’s most secure dungeons. The riders of Nordland rode fast and to inform the allies of an encroaching Orenian army who came to secure the release of the traitor. The quick reinforcement of the Renatian and Orcish army is a testament to their military readiness.

On the Nordengradic border did the two armies both meet, even in number but not in skill. At first glance it seems that a mistake was made on both sides as the two armies were caught off guard and thus thrown into a chaotic and unorganised melee. Once more did the Renatian knights charge forward into the melee, with its rear guard protected by the Norlander infantry and Orcish berserkers. The Reiver mercenaries who had the courage to show face after their last disastrous defeat was quickly routed and destroyed by the rear guard who was strategically placed to kill or disable any flanks.

Aftermath

The Orenian army retreats back towards Reza, after being badly beaten by the Renatian Legions. This battle would be seen as a massive morale boost for the Renatian side. Directly after the battle Caylus Caunter was hung from the Norlandic ashtree infront of thousands of citizens and soldiers in Dunharrow
