The Triumvirate was a political party originally founded in Norland in 1660 by Hans Torsten, Rodrigo Claudice, and Caspian Lombardi. It was founded on the basis of rapid economic expansion via trade and business, large construction projects, and governmental reform. After the Siege of Ruriksgrad and the fall of Norland, the party had an uncertain future. However, Hans and Caspian have taken steps to refounding it in Ashwood while Rodrigo focuses on his business for the time being. After the death of Hans, Caspian became the sole leader of the party. Under him, it would join the Duchy of Nevaria in the Staunton Uprising. After it’s defeat, it was effectively disbanded.

History

Founding

During the second mayoral election in Ruriksgrad, candidates Hans Torsten and Rodrigo Claudice had very similar positions with them regularly complimenting each other. After the ill-prepared first debate and the sudden announcement of Jorvik Ruric's candidacy, Hans and Rodrigo agreed to set aside their differences and work together. Fearing Jorvik's explosive behavior, they along with Caspian Lombardi formed a political party to share their common ideas.

Election

After agreeing to have the foundation made public, Rodrigo began to work on the announcement. However, he would make some printing mistakes that he would not notice until after publication. The misprinted version was mistaken by much of the public as a consolidation of power by influential people against the Rurics. Even after the corrected version was published, some still thought it was founded to rival the Rurics. Amoung them was Godden Ruric, who believed that the Triumvirate was a threat to his family. Even after the corrected version was published, he still saw it as a nuisance. After some debate, Hans and Rodrigo agreed to suspend operations until the end of the Atlas Coalition War.

After the War

After the Siege of Ruriksgrad, the fate of the party was uncertain until Alston Caunter took over Ashwood keep along with Caspian with Hans joining later. There, they began to reorganize and since they want the party to have three leaders, tossed around the idea of making Alston the third leader. This is due to Rodrigo, while not leaving the party, leaving his leadership role to focus on his business. When Hans died of old age, Caspian became the sole leader of the Triumvirate. Under him, he would join Richard Arden in forming the Duchy of Nevaria. This was not well received as Gustaf, the son of Hans, would defect to Renatus during the Staunton Uprising. After the defeat of Nevaria in the war, the party was effectively disbanded.
