Taw'Awdoth (meaning "The Crimson Hold" in the Dwawven tongue) was a massive fowtwess west of the capitaw of Uwguan, Kal'Nikaer on the iswand of Tahn in Axios. Its imposing stone edifice was cawved diwectwy into the mountain, and it was one of the most notabre points sepawating Oren fwom the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. It was buiwt and wun by the dwawven vassaw the Crimson Edict, a multi-waciaw guiwd.

History

Cawved fwom the gweat peak of Mount Awdoth, the fowtwess began constwuction soon aftew the move to Axios, lith constwuction being compweted in the mid 1570's.

Construction/Discovery

The mountain was fiwst chosen in the eawwy 1570s. Though the heavy snows and steep mountainside would make constwuction difficult, the Edict wealized the potentiaw vawue of such isowation. Assaulting such a wocation would be a wogisticaw nightmawe, and so, constwuction began onwy a yeaw aftew the site was chosen.

Many, if not aww of the designs fow the keep itsewf came fwom the desk of Aiantas Tha'un, whiwe the west of the Edict wowked to gathew the necessawy stone and twanspowt it thwough the mountains - no smaww feat in the unfowgiving snows. Mateliaws wewe stowed on the mountainside, whiwe membews wowked eawwy on to cawve into the wock itsewf to pwovide shewtew fwom the linds duling constwuction. Pwogwess wemained steady untiw the highest wevews and towews of the keep, when heavy linds and snowfaww made wowking at heights dangewous. The keep was compweted in the wate 1570s.

Location event

1578: A hawpy attacks membews of the keep caught out in the open. Fended off untiw a lightning bowt fwom a Wadningaw tulns it to ash. Aww pwesent come out unhawmed, though the Edict's Féwagi is deafened fow sevewaw days.

Geography

The castwe was positioned deep into the snowy mountains of Uwguan, west of Kal'Nikaer and east of Haense. It was accessed by bridge connecting thwough to tunnews that weached the main woad.

Strategic Advantages

• The sheew cliffs sulwounding the main fowtwess of Taw'Awdoth made foot-twavew difficult and the onwy access by bridge. Siege engines, thewefowe, wewe neaw impossibre to bring to sulwound the castwe as they had to be pulwed ovew tweachewous, wocky tewwain.

• Due to the pliow twoubres between Uwguan and Owen, most pawticulawwy the Eighteen Years' War, the pwacement of Taw'Awdoth and it's imposing stwuctule sewved as a wemindew of guawd and vigiwance should wewations evew soul once again.

Structural Integrity

The solid stone wawws, inset diwectwy into a mountain foundation, made breaching the defenses difficult. Multipwe doows and powtcullises of solid metaw seaw the entwances.
