Jerrito Mendez, also known as Ser Jerrito or Comandante Jerrito Mendez was a Knight of Hyspia and one of the most distinguished Hyspians in its history. Having served as Lord-Marshal, Second Knight of Hyspia, Lord-Regent, and even Lord of House Mendez all in his lifetime, Jerrito is well known for his accomplishments and was still incredibly smart and tactical even at the age of 55.

Early Life

Jerrito was born in the year 1759 and was given the name "Jerrito Juarez" upon his birth. He spent a great many years wandering around with the Hyspian tribe, and a majority of his early years were spent learning martial skills and military tactics. Not much else is known about his childhood.

Mid-Life

When Jerrito was roughly 31, he was one of the very first Hyspian settlers to follow alongside King Cesar I in founding the settlement of Tierra Natal. There, he helped in the formation of the Hyspian Militia and later the Hyspian Monarchist Army. He went on to serve in the Hyspian-Bandit war where he was deployed under the command of his future brother Carlos Mendez. Jerrito quickly became recognized for his loyalty and received a good amount of promotions throughout his time serving Cesar I.

Following the end of the Hyspian-Bandit war and the death of King Cesar, Jerrito was soon brought into the Mendez family by Carlos Mendez and adopted the family surname. Jerrito, along with the majority of the Hyspians, fled the continent of Arcas in the aftermath of the Inferi War and settled on the continent of Almaris with his adoptive Brother and fellow Hyspians. Like the majority of Hyspians, Jerrito would assist in the construction of Osanora and went on to live in the city along with his Brother. Jerrito would be one of the many Hyspian citizens seeking the return of King Antonio I after he was whisked away to Norland for his own protection, and he approved of his elder brother's move to bring the young King to Osanora despite the protests of his guardians in Norland. Jerrito would continue to serve loyally, assisting his Brother Carlos in thwarting a failed coup attempt against the Baron of Osanora by an ethnic group known as the Caelians. For his efforts, Jerrito would be knighted as Ser Jerrito of House Mendez, making him the second Knight of Hyspia after his brother.

Knighthood & Hyspian Schism

Following the Hyspian's exile from Osanora ordered by the Baron of Osanora, Jerrito would accompany King Antonio in his march north to the Kingdom of Norland, where a previously signed treaty had guaranteed the two Kingdoms would provide each other with sanctuary if necessary. Jerrito, notably a man who was more secular than pious, had little qualms with moving to the Red Faith Kingdom and continued to support King Antonio I in his decision. Jerrito's loyalty would be momentarily tested at the outbreak of the Hyspian Schism due to King Antonio I's conversion to the Red Faith, but Jerrito's faith in his Liege remained strong and he remained by the King's side along with his older brother Carlos. He would join the King in the new Hyspian settlement/capital of Nueva Tierra, where he began to take a role as one of the King's loyalist enforcers. The Knight would accompany King Antonio at the Confrontation at Osanora, where the two sides bickered with one another on neutral ground before returning to Nueva Tierra. During the Schism, Jerrito would lead a handful of Red Hyspian raids against the White Hyspians, which helped to keep the White Hyspians on edge.

As the war progressed, Ser Jerrito's faith in his King remained strong whilst his Brother, Ser Carlos, began to falter. Ser Carlos was notably a more pious man than his Brother, and he was eventually convinced by Francisco Altamirano to change sides to the White Hyspians. Ser Jerrito, enraged by his Brother's decision, remained loyal to the King whilst his adoptive Brother was declared an outlaw and his title as Lord of Mendez transferred to Jerrito. At the same time, King Antonio elevated Ser Jerrito onto his council as Hyspia's Lord-Marshal, giving him free reign to wage war upon the White Hyspians. Ser Jerrito, leading the Red Hyspian army, would continue to conduct a handful of raids into White Hyspian lands throughout the remainder of the War.

At the conclusion of the war following the death of both King Antonio I and Francisco Altamirano, Ser Jerrito would continue to be an avid supporter of House de Rivera and helped escort Queen-Mother Sofia to peace negotiations at Osanora on behalf of her infant son, Cesar II. When peace was finally agreed upon, Ser Carlos and Ser Jerrito would reconcile and the two continued on with their lives. Ser Carlos took the role of an advisor to King Cesar II, and Ser Jerrito continued to serve in the military of Hyspia. In the aftermath of the war, Jerrito would move back to Osanora along with King Cesar II and would live to see the brief resurgence of Hyspia under the new King. He would end up having one child with an unknown woman before being relieved of duty a year after the Hyspian Schism and eventually passing in the year 25 S.A.
