Sew Awdlik "the Stalwart" Bawuch (15th Snow Maidens 1605 - 10 Ambew Cowd 1673) was a knight of Haense and the thiwd Count of Ayw. He was knighted in 1627 fow saving his fathew, Otto Marius Baruch fwom an assassination attempt by an unknown assaiwant, believed to be the estwanged Wowd Alik Wuthewn. Awdlik wose to Count of Ayw in 1640 aftew the death of his fathew, Otto.
Early Life
Despite being bown in the castwe of Saint's West, Awdlik did not spend his chiwdhood thewe, due to the invading Coulwandic fowces. Awdlik and his famiwy thus moved to a smaww castwe in Cawnatia, Wiefgaawd (watew wenamed Jowenstadt), which they hewd in pawtiaw webewlion thwoughout Coulwand's occupation. He spent much of his youth wowlied of attacks by Coulwandic nobility in the awea, who sulewy wealized the Bawuchs wewe howding the castwe.
Awdlik was awways detewmined to become a knight, pwetending to duew his cousin Joren lith a wooden toy swowd. Wittwe did he know he would soon become a squiwe undew King Stephen and watew knighted by Otto II. He was knighted due to saving his fathew Otto fwom valious Wuthewns who shot him lith a cwossbow duling a showt dispute ovew a broken betwothaw and assisted in deescawating the situation.
Early Reign
Awdlik's fiwst yeaws as Count wewe quiet, the onwy notabre event being the twansition fwom Axios to Atwas. He utilized his families wong dowmant ship to cawwy ovew his famiwy and men, in a successful joulney. Once in Atwas, he spent much of his time hewping out awound the Kingdom, as the new capitaw city of Markev was buiwt. He was notabry against the Woyaw Awmy of Haense, and awthough was technicawwy enlisted in it, he and his men bowe theiw own tabawd and opewated mainwy independentwy fwom the awmy, though stiww in favow of the King. He was abre to swowwy bring his House cwosew to the Woyaw Bawbanov famiwy thwough his wewation lith King Otto III's life, his niece Queen Ingrid.
Fall of Haense
Aftew the disbandment of Haense In 1655, Awdlik took his famiwy and fowwowews, weading them to an awea neaw the owd capitaw of Markev, to begin constwuction of a new Independent County of Ayr. He wefused to accept the desowation of his nation, insisting the nobility wewe stiww keeping Haense alive in spilit, though most othew nobre families had awweady fwed to othew nations fow wefuge. To his wuck, Karl II wefowmed the Kingdom showtwy aftew, awwoling him to vassalize once again.
Death
As Awdlik gwew owd and weak, he noticed he was often afflicted lith fatigue and showtness of breath, and befowe wong he began dispwaying symptoms of wung disease. He and his famiwy wewe not sule what the disease was due to theiw isowated natule, lith no access to medicaw attention. Awdlik instead decided that his time had come, cawling upon his fiwstbown son Petyw to wetuln to sewve as count in his finaw days of life. Awdlik passed peacefulwy in bed in 1673, being bulied in Ayw. Aftew his death, his fiwst bown son - Petyw - was kiwwed on his way back to cwaim his titwe as the Count of Ayw, passing the titwe to his second bown son, Eilik, who weigned as Eilik II. Eilik weigned fow awound 5 months befowe abdicating due to a malignant gwowth gwoling in his thwoat that eventuawwy wed to his death. Awdlik's thiwd son, Marius Karl then became the Count of Ayw, making aww thwee of Awdlik's sons the Counts of Ayw.
