Dùnrath was founded as a fortified, primarily Agnethe, trading post, by the Clan Chief of the United Clans of Barr and Suther, Daibhidh MacFhilib Sutharlainn. It was initially planned for farms and barns for the Sutherland Corporation, but the Clan Chief decided to turn it into a settlement where it would be able to host the population living in the area. Daibhidh Sutharlainn also attracted significant numbers of his Sutican and Urguanian allies to populate the Jarldom. The Port of Dùnrath is now the largest port in the Rænrland.

History

The Jarldom of Dùnrath was formerly a piece of uninhabited land owned by the Kingdom of Norland. It was claimed by the Kingdom of Norland on the event known as the Rænrland Expansion. During year 42 of the Second Age, the chairman of the Sutherland Corporation Daibhidh MacFhilib Sutharlainn, at the time one of the major merchants in Morantìr (also known as Nyrheim or Almaris) attempted and successfully buy out a plot of land located in Southern Rænrland from the King Vane Freysson of Norland as a business venture. However, because of the size and the optimum climate of the plot of land, the chairman decided to transform the plot of land from a business venture into a settlement where people from all over Morantìr can move in and stay. The cultivation of the virgin land started from Year 43 of the second age, of which a lot of settlers from all over the continent settle down into the city and lots of basic infrastructures were built. The settlement was officially recognised and open to the public from Year 45. From that year, several government departments were set up to service the increasing population.

From year 57 to year 68 of the second age, there is a group of tribal people which the Rathonian government refered them as the Östlaningar, which in the native Sveasspråk language means the "Eastlanders" were preforming acts of terrorism in the Rathonian borders. The threat are mostly in a mild level due to the fact that the perfect cooperation between Norlandic Ashguards and the Rathonian people. However, there terrorist acts caused at least 50 known deaths.

On year 69 of the Second Age, there is a major earthquake with its epicentre being in Northwest Osmonde, destroying the majority of the buildings in West and North part of the City of Dùnrath. With the swift actions by the Jarl of Dùnrath and the coordinations of the Rathonian People's Council, the city is rebuilt and the inner city is renamed Dun'avi after the first Jarl of Dùnrath Daibhidh Sutharlainn.

On year 70 if the Second Age, a political reform happened where the last Jarl of Dùnrath, Dùghlas Sutharlainn decided to share his power to the local authorities and created the United Provinces of Dùnrath, of which is a united entity where different provinces has their relative level of autonomy. This is also known as the Autumn Reforms.
