The House of Valyn was founded by Ser Edric Mösu, who was knighted on the year 80 S.A. He would then go hunt a beast which began preying on the village's sheep, he tracked it back to its den, a cave in the base of a mountain. Edric would kill the beast, but would spare its mate and offspring and would take a black lion on a crimson field as his Coat of Arms. Ser Edric would later create the Order of the Lion to serve as House Valyn's private militia.
