House of Ruthern of Balian (Common: Ruthern; Raevir: Ruthovic; High Imperial: Rutenes) is a junior branch of House of Ruthern, having split off from their kin in the Kingdom of Haense to plant roots in the Holy Orenian Empire and then, after it's collapse, the Kingdom of Balian.

Originating as a bastard cadet branch of the senior line of the House of Carrion, Ruthern originally gained prominence under Exalted Sigismund and his succeeding Carrion monarchs: King Henry I and King Francis I.
