The Capital of Viralondë is a tall fortress nestled atop the peaks on the fringe of the Barrowlands. It is inhabited primarily by Wood Elves, Dark Elves and High Elves who have pledged their swords to the Crown and transitioned into being Ichorians, or Alderfolk.

Gladewynn, formerly the Kingdom of Gladewynn, was a settlement inhabiting the Loftywoods and Barrowlands regions on Arcas. Neighboring Irrinor and Renelia, it was once the home of the Alder Elves prior to the founding of the Pale of Aldemar.

The city was founded by the Ithelanens following their exodus from Caras Eldar in 1685. The battlements and towers were constructed by Lady Mae'lyrra Ithelanen and her followers, while many of the tents were pitched and pathways installed by High Chancellor Lothryc. The city was officially declared a free and independent state from the ailing Dominion of Malin on the 15th of the Sun's Smile, 1686 with the Establishment of the Enclave.

Discovery and Reconstruction
An old elven ruin was discovered, a disheveled and ancient structural outline that was excavated by Auriel Lothryc, Kairn Ithelanen, and Kaz Ithelanen after the Exodus. Tunnels were discovered beneath the ground and many aging bluprints found as well, so liberties were taken and new plans drawn up with heavy inspiration from the documents that were taken. The main keep was finally finished in 1690, and the Ithelanens and their retinue now inhabit the keep and its prestigous throneroom is inhabited by many trophies of the Bronze Rebellion, Coalition Wars, and War For the Loftywoods.

Location event
There have been a number of raids and conflicts that have taken place in the camp prior to the reconstruction of the fortress. Early into the establishment of the Company of Gladewynn, the Kadarsi threatened the King and his followers before attempting to take the camp and the elves inside and put them to the torch. The force was successfully repelled by the Elves who had the advantage of being on their home turf. Further attempts to seize the land have not been made, and the Company quickly allied itself with the Empire of Man to avoid further squabbles over lands and territories in the Barrowlands.

The rocky mountains and cliffaces are treacherous in the Barrowlands. Because the terrain is so dangerous, the land had to be gradually tamed over the years. Nonetheless, the wild life thrives and there is plenty of water, but the land is barren and crops are few and far between.

Gladewynn has roots going back as far back as the Imperial Invasion of Malinor, some hundred-and-eighteen years before the Horen Restoration. The First Empire led by Emperor Godfrey Horen I and Peter Chivay, the Grandmaster of the White Rose, led the Sack of Malinor and put the homeland of the Elves to the torch. In vain the Elves fought to try and keep their homeland from prying Imperial hands but failed, which led to the establishment of Old Gladewynn by the displaced tribes of Ithelanen, Vanethelan, and Corrin around the Aldersrock.

History

Anthos

Atlas

Gladewynn was founded on the 15th of the Sun’s Smile, 1686, after Clans Ithelanen, Torena and Lothryc organized into an enclave in the Barrowlands near San'Kala and the Pridelands. Originally led by the Prince of Alders, this enclave had separated from the Dominion of Malin due to disagreements between Prince Kairn and the Queen of the Dominion of Malin. The relationship between the two nascent Elven powers was strained at best and many people flocked to the banners of Ithelanen, while the Praetor Fëanor Sylvaeri and his contingent of Virarim remained stationed at the city amidst the chaos, the streets empty except for the Aureons, Silmas, and Caerme'onns.

Many meetings were held between different clans in an effort to preserve peace, and the Silmas lifted their banners in a truce and held a meeting with Prince Kairn Ithelanen. Chieftain Miklaeil agreed that the Silmas would not get in the midst of the cold war that was ensuing, and when the Dominion of Malin was abolished by Queen Awaiti Aureon and its territories signed back under Gladewynn, now an emerging kingdom with its concentration of traditionally elven holdings and imperialist expansionist policies, and thus King Kairn Ithelanen was again proclaimed the Ruler of Alder-Irrinite Elvendom.

Prior to the Third Atlas Coalition War the King Kairn Ithelanen was captured in battle fighting alongside highly-trained Imperial Legionnaires in Nordengrad. The Duke entreated him and then to the bewilderment of his Orcish allies spared the Elvenking's life in a summary display of diplomacy and camaraderie, decreeing that because the HighElves had granted them the land for their first Krag he would be spared execution. Returning home, the Avchirran were rallied for battle and fought alongside the Imperials and Haensemen in the war, as well as entreating other Elven powers to participate to protect their sovereignty.

Arcas

As the nation began to collapse, the King Kaz Ithelanen and his confidants departed the lands prior to the journey to Arcas. Much like his father before him, Kaz viewed there to be a different future on the horizon. His wife, Layla, was left with the realm of Gladewynn vested in her control. Denouncing the Monarchy due to its supposed abandonment of the Elven people for lands abroad, she took upon herself the moniker of Empyreal Princess instead and founded Alderyn, which consisted of the fractured remnants of Ithelanen, Caerme'onn, and Csarathaire.

"Reimposition of Unity"

In the absence of Kairn Ithelanen, his law-brother Dinlassel'an was restored as Chieftain of Ithelanen. He met with Sea Prince Feanor Sylvaeri and they began to negotiate. Facing long-term economic and political hardship as escalations occurred between Alderyn and the Empire of Man, the two Elven powers of Aegrothond and Alderyn unified to form the Principality of Elvenesse. Under the threat of looming war, Alderyn was razed by Dinlassel'an Ithelanen and left to be taken by the Imperials and Haelun'or during the Elven Union Conflict.
