Mary Casimira, the daughter of the late governess, had been treated as an equal and friend by Elisabeth. However, Mary harbored deep-seated resentment, perceiving Elisabeth as her rival in every aspect of their lives. Without warning, her suppressed animosity surfaced, leading her to orchestrate a plot against Elisabeth that involved assassination schemes. Elisabeth found herself entangled in a web of accusations she could not easily disentangle, compounded by the threat to her own life that Mary had set in motion.

Left with no alternative, Elisabeth contemplated divine intervention. Could this be God's way of wiping the slate clean, of testing his child's resilience? With no other choice in sight, Elisabeth fled, aided by her closest confidant, as they devised a plan to fake her death. She allowed others to believe that she had fallen victim to the infamous Tuvyic curse, ensuring even her brother Franz believed she had succumbed to its ill fate. On that fateful day, she shed her former identity and rearranged her name, adopting the guise of Paizley Veta, drawing upon her grandmother's legacy as an actress to conceal her true self. In this newfound life, she not only sought refuge but also hid her most precious secret: her child, Belladona, known to none but herself.
