Malaurir Braxus Ni’leya (11th of Malin’s Welcome 1192 - 18th of Amber Cold 1973), also known as “The Statesman”, “elMarullral’ito’tennallar" (The Leviathan/Octopus), or “The Martyr”, was a Mali’aheral who rose to prominence in Haelun'or, both as a Soldier and a Political figure, serving as Commander of Len’niut during the Bronze Rebellion led by Phaedrus Lle'hileia, as Medi’ir and Sohaer succeeding Kolvar Uradir after the disastrous Haeseni-Haelun'orian war, and as Maheral post Aheralic War.

Life and History

Aegis & Asulon

Braxus was born to two Mali’aheral, Kayda and Sarndir Ni’leya, and resided on the Northern borders of Malinor’s Forests. He lived in a Haelunorian commune of like-minded Elves until he reached the age of about 70 at which point he set out to Laurelin, wherein he would join the Malinorian Sentinels, then led by Prince Flefal. It is rumoured that Braxus was the first Sentinel to complete the notorious Gauntlet, on his first attempt no less. He rose swiftly through the ranks of the Malinorian Sentinels under Commander Serva Rose before one day resigning. He had encountered a Mali’aheral named Seth Calith, who kept true to the ways of Larihei Lomahnih. He informed Braxus of a new city of Mali’aheral, who practiced the lifestyle of maehr’sae hiylun’ehya - the ancient governing philosophy of the Mali’thill, and so he set out from Malinor with Seth, who became his teacher and friend.

Not much is known about this period of Braxus’ life other than he survived the destruction of Asulon and joined his kin in Malinor, though not for long as he would set out and join the others in Lin’evaral and subsequently, The Tomb.

The Fringe

A Mali’aheral by the name of Kalenz Uradir came to prominence in Tahn’siol, in the early days of the Fringe. He would bring the Mali’ame, Mali’ker and impure Mali’aheral known as Mali’fenn under Haelun’ors fold, establishing districts beneath the Plateau of Tahn’siol. Braxus was inspired by the fervor and enthusiasm of Kalenz and immediately became a supporter and follower. Where Seth had taught Braxus the values and ideals of maehr’sa hiylun’ehya, Kalenz lit a flame of fervor within the heart of him. However, Braxus had begun courting an Elf by the name of Irelia Fenn’asul, she was a diplomat in the Fennic district, known as Okarn’fenn. A loving relationship blossomed and the first of his children came to be, Irelia Ni’leya - named after her Mother.

As he became more zealous, riled by the words of Kalenz Uradir, his feelings towards Irelia changed. He no longer viewed her as his equal, but as an ‘ata - an impure Elf who had strayed from the path of purity. Irelia refused to change her ways and out of devotion for both his Sohaer Kalenz and maehr’sae hiylun’ehya, murdered her in secret just as Celi’ante was constructed.

Athera

Braxus was enlisted within the Sillumir when Phaedrus Lle'hileia overthrew the High Elven government and began a genocide against the Mali'aheral. Though some resistance was offered, it was ultimately not enough and Braxus and his kin fled the City to Aldersburg, where they went into hiding. It was there that he met Asul'athri, who would reform and revitalize the Sillumiran. The two became great friends and comrades and decided that an urgent excursion into Annil'sul was necessary - to search for those who had lost their way during the fall and to reclaim their home. Braxus adopted the pseudonym of 'Cassium' and together, Braxus and Asul'athri rescued dozens of Mali'aheral, leading them to safety. A year prior to the return of Annil'sul to the Mali'aheral in 1848, Braxus had been named Commander of Len'niut.

As life returned to normality Braxus began courting a Mali'aheral by the name of Larissa, together they would go on to have a Daughter, named Celia and a Son named Kalenz, in honor of one of Braxus' most influential teachers and friends, Kalenz Uradir. It was at this time too, that Braxus had begun befriending members of the Elibar'acal talonnii. This would prove to have a significant impact on Braxus' life as he joined their secret order of Anti-Mage's, sacrificing not one, but two children belonging to a Wood Elven Politician by the name of Artimec Camoryn, motivated by his crimes against Haelun'or, as outlined by the Declaration Of Lomian'onn 1493.

As a high-ranking officer in the Sillumiran, Braxus would play a role in the immolation of King Andrik Vydra in 1498.

Aevos

Braxus was staunchly opposed to the formation of The Silver Empire of Haelun’or, and the Warmongering of Kolvar Uradir, even going so far as to meet with foreign leaders to encourage their call for passivity across Elvendom. His traditional leanings meant that he would not support a Haelun’orian Empire, nor a warmongering leader. In his elder years Braxus believed that the only way to unite Elvendom under Haelun’or's guidance was by the assent of the other Elven peoples - which was entirely the opposite view from his younger years under the tutelage of Kalenz Uradir. As a result of this new Haelun'or, Braxus departed for a while, travelling the continent.

Upon his return to Haelun'or, Braxus found the City empty - with an inactive Government, thus he began to rally his supporters and encourage a renewal of Haelun'or's Families and Citizens. On the 18th of Amber Cold, 1973 S.A, he presented a petition to Sohaer Theveus Sythaerin, urging him to call an election. Theveus declined, and instead handed Braxus over to the army of Celia’nor, whom he had invited to the Citadel. Braxus was bound and brought to Leyu'sil, where he would be stoned to death by order of Prince Illarion Ibarellan. His own Daughter Irelia Py’lrie (Ni’leya) gave the call for the commencement of the Stoning. Upon his incapacitation, he was beheaded by Thelia of Celia’nor and the Dominion.

The call for election is an Ancient Haelun'orian custom, thus dying in defense of this custom earned him the epithet of ‘Martyr’, which was bestowed upon him by the people of Haelun’or posthumously.

• Did you know, that Braxus Ni'leya founded the High Elven religion of Lomahnihsm, which posits that the progenitor of the Mali'aheral people - Larihei Lomahnih - was a Deific figure that created the Mali'aheral in her likeness and image.
