Preceding Alfred's inheritance was the Siege of Breakwater - where he'd been wounded amongst the first Veletzian sallies outwards from the Keep. He'd been nursed back to health over the following months, and ultimately came to receive the Duchy of Reinmar as King Aleksandr's army came to march.. His first true lesson as a Peer came whilst commanding elements of the Haeseni vanguard amidst the Siege of Brasca, where formations had to be organized to protect siege weaponry. The conflict with Veletz raged only further as Alfred ruled over his fiefdom beneath King Aleksandr of Hanseti-Ruska - despite the location of Sankt Johannsberg have laid on the border with the League of Veletz, rarely was it subjected to banditry and raids.

Alfred's father, Manfred left Alfred a towering project, the plans of Reinmaren independence. Only from the times of Saint Johann and onwards had the Reinmaren finally begun to embrace their own cultural image, and it was Manfred's intention to continue the pursuit of that, alongside the Grand Prince of Minitz, Ferdinand. Though it came to be that Manfred fell ill and inevitably abdicated in-place of his son, Alfred. For Manfred had begun the work, and set-forth a snowball effect that Alfred had to carry onwards. This began primarily with the consultation of Reinmaren scholars, warriors and politicans alike for such a project's validity and security - after his assurances were settled, his talks finally began with the King Aleksandr.

Their talks came loosely, first - with Alfred looking up to his liege as a friend, someone who respected the Reinmaren. It culminated entirely with the Stallion Decree of E.S 513 - Alfred himself seemed split, for he'd grown up amongst those same people, though he'd slowly began to embrace the concept of a destiny, passed down from Chieftains of Old. The Stallion Decree allowed the Reinmaren of Haense to reunite with their Aaunic kin - and to live within the walls of Kanunsberg, until the war with Veletz had concluded.

For the remainder of the war, the two 'Reinmaren Princes', Alfred and his cousin, Leon, the Prince of Minitz - grew inseparable, considering one-another often as brothers. As the war finally grew to a close, Alfred had finally been summoned before the Royal Court of Haense.

Alfred Barclay (3rd of Sun's Smile, 1930), is the firstborn son and successor of Manfred II, Duke of Reinmar, and his wife, Ravenna of Thurant. He inherited the Duchy of Reinmar following his father's Writ of Abdication, in 1955 - only the year before which, Alfred was knighted into the Royal Order of the Knightly Circle of Saint Godwin. He was wed to Theodosia Baruch on the exact day following his inheritance, in a private ceremony.

Early Life & the Barony of Sigradz (1930-1955)

Alfred was born to Manfred II, Duke of Reinmar and his wife Ravenna of Thurant on the 3rd of Sun's Smile, 1930. He grew up primarily beneath the tutelage of his uncle, Ser Konstanz Barclay - whilst serving later as a ward of Alyona, Baroness of Verskaya with intentions of becoming a Haeseni Envoy later in life. His earliest years were marked with little, aside from studies and involvement in the Haeseni courts. He grew closest to his cousins of House Kortrevich, primarily Leonid and Irena - who would later become the Lord Marshal of Haense and Baroness of Koravia, respectively.

As Alfred grew older, his duties became more imposing. At his father's wishes - Alfred began service in the Brotherhood of St. Karl, and made to represent his own house in the militaristic affairs of Haense. When he came of age to be oathed, having completed his trials to become an oathedman - Alfred set out alongside Rosalind Weiss and Rickard var Ruthern. On this outing, intending to slay a bear - Alfred suffered grievous wounds, losing the usage of an eye in the process. Manfred therein also desired his son to be wed young, unlike himself - and so Alfred was urged to seek out a wife, before eventually deciding on Teodosia Baruch, daughter of Roslin, Duchess of Valwyck. The two went on to betroth and finally wed in 1955 - the same week of Manfred's abdication and Alfred's inheritance to the Duchy of Reinmar.

Vassalage & the Duchy of Reinmar (1955-1962)

Sankt Johannsburg, circa 1956

His guidance over Reinmar was assisted by many councilors and kin alike - Josefina of Jerovitz, Wilhelm von Berkhoven and the like, helped him to sustain the Duchy whilst the burden of the war lingered above them.

This helped Alfred himself adapt to the new circumstances, it came with living in such a foreign land to himself. As the war finally grew to a close, Alfred had finally been summoned before the Royal Court of Haense.

Alfred, his wife Theodosia, and his eldest daughter, Frederica came before the King Aleksandr and were subsequently freed of their oaths, to rousing cheers from among the present Reinmaren.

Sovereignty & Principality of Reinmar (1962-Present)

It was only a year or so, after Alfred had finally achieved his goal, that he'd set out west to discover a land for the Reinmaren to settle and grow upon. Within months, he'd come upon a cliff, and in the horizon, he'd spotted the illustrious, untamed Ferdenwald. It was then, when he'd aptly brought his fellow-Prince to the location, Leon, and the two verified among themselves that this would be the place they'd surely settle.

Alfred discovers the Ferdenwald alongside his retainers.
