Adrian de Sarkozy (10th of the First Seed, 1702 – present), is an Imperial military and political leader. He has served as Lord Protector of the Holy Orenian Empire since the demise of Alexander II in the year 1731, acting simultaneously as head of state and government in a time of unrest and interregnum.

Early Life

Born under the name of Adrian var Josip Sarkozic in the city of Ves as the son of Joseph of Adria and his wife, Victoria Valic, Sarkozy's childhood was punctuated mostly by the long absences of his father, leaving him to be raised primarily under the tutelage of his great uncle, Edgar.

When the War of the Two Emperors broke out he had become quite disgusted by the Empire of Renatus attempting to undermine the authority of the current High Pontiff, Everard V, to which he'd begin to take action using the remainder of his family's wealth in hiring himself mercenaries to aid Joseph in his war.

Upon gaining a military force he would then begin to train them into becoming a formidable force to which he'd later partake in the Siege of Helena being under the command of Count Conrad of Leuven. After suffering a defeat at Helena his new homeland, Leuven, would become the main battlegrounds of the war to which led towards many skirmishes and engagements in the area to which Adrian would quickly become a capable commander for his company who were part of the front line of defense at Leuven. As he had shown his capabilities of being a leader it would result in the formation of the Sarkozic company with the mercenaries who had then sworn to serve under him and his family.

After months of fighting, he would later be captured and brought to the Emperor of Renatus himself. The emperor demanded his allegiance, bidding that he forswear all loyalty to the Josephites, which he refused, being promptly imprisoned into a dungeon for ransom. Languishing for a few months in the Renatian dungeons, Sarkozy's ransom was later paid by a Curonian merchant sympathetic to the Josephite cause. Shortly after his release and arrival in the Curonian capital city of Avalain, Curon switched its allegiance to the Pertinaxi side of the civil war, sending the young Sarkozy into hiding to regroup with what loyal retainers he had left. Sarkozy's actions throughout the remainder of the war are unknown, however, upon the conclusion of the conflict, he returned to Ves and resided in relative obscurity. At some point subsequent to this in the year 1722, he was summoned to Helena for an audience with the new emperor, John VII, who offered to entitle him Baron of Renzfeld in exchange for his loyalty. Sarkozy obliged and swore himself to the service of the newly-minted Holy Orenian Empire.

Reign

As Holy Orenian Emperor

The Three Month War with Urguan would soon come to an end when Emperor John VII of Oren had declared his abdication whilst also declaring the Holy Orenian Empire to become a democracy. Upon hearing the news, Adrian quickly rallied his family along with his retinue with the help of the dwarves towards Helena. At their arrival, he had begun to speak with some of the old council of Oren where he'd then take the throne claiming his right to be the new Holy Orenian Emperor. As he then became Emperor he'd end the war signing a white peace with the Under-realm of Urguan [1].

After gaining the throne, Adrian would be forced out of Helena as his cousin, Charles of Alston, had done an overnight attack at Helena to which he'd then declare himself as Emperor as well as taking Adrian's throne. As his Imperial throne was taken by him unjustly he quickly gains supporters from the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska as well as the Kingdom of Curonia and other nations. Two months would pass to where he'd exchange ravens back and forth with his cousin agreeing to meet in the city of Ves. Thusly would result in both of them stepping down as Emperors allowing a boy named Alexander to take the throne after being chosen by the High Pontiff, Daniel VI.
