The National Party was founded in the crucible of the city of Providence, from the foundations of the Commonwealth Club - a political discussion society and exclusive club based out of Helvets Avenue. The first ‘Commonwealthers’, chiefed by Ciprian de la Baltas, originated as a broad-based coalition who resolved to stand for honest government, anti-machine politics, and fiscal responsibility. Since that time, they have rebranded themselves the National Party, and taken the colours of the flag as their own.
