Prelude
The first conflict started long before the calls of a crusade first rose, back in the 84th year of the Second Age. Information had made its way to the Order of the Golden Lion, A Paladin Order run by the keeper, Alatáriel of Itnan. It was a mistake that she received this information however one mistake is all it will ever take.. Wasting no time Alatariel and a few of her paladins rode to the base of the Serheim. Upon arrival, they were met by archers peeking over the walls along with the Barrowlord of the Fifth Synod, Astark. Words were exchanged, then arrows as the battle had begun. The Paladins knew they were not a match for the darkspawn and mages hurling spells at them from the wars in their current situation, using the horses they brought the keeper ordered a retreat. Sensing the upper hand Astark ordered his men from the walls in order to chase down the paladins, victory within his grasp. However, it was naught to be for once he charged the Order, they would wheel around and charge there would be pursuers' however they only managed to mortally wound the Barrowlord’s vessel with a lance of sapphire lightning alongside a mighty execution of the Long Arm wielded by Feanor Sylvaeri, one of the paladins. As the battle raged on for hours it would be clear that no winner would be declared on this day, bothsides retreating to lick there would within the only death of the battle being the vessel of the Barrowlord.
This would not be the first or last time the Paladins of Xan and the Forces of Serheim would do battle, only the first, the first battle of a great crusade.

- The Harvest Confederacy would suffer from multiple small raids and attacks by the Serheim forces resulting in numerous deaths.
- The Lectorate, tired of all the raids by 'darkspawn' would have their leader, Arch-Lector Danzen release a letter declaring a crusade against the Serheim, in it he would make a request to the High Pontiff, Pontian IV of the Church of the Canon. Asking him to join in on the holy crusade. [1]
- Upon hearing the call put out by the Lectorate, the order of the Golden Lion would declare their support for such a crusade.[2]
- After hearing the call put out by the Lectorate, High Pontiff, Pontian IV would release his own missive compelling all good Canonists to take up the cross and join the crusade with the Pontiff himself leading the charge. [3]
- Heeding the call of the pope, The Duke of Vidaus, Mikhail var Ruthern would release a missive declaring his support.[https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/216542-answering-the-call/
- Karl III, the King of Hanseti-Ruska hearing the calls of the pontiff would partake in a private ceremony with Pontian IV in which a red cross would be drawn upon his breastplate and his vow to the pontiff to not remove the armor until the Schiem was vanquished, officially joining the crusade. A missive would be released later detailing the ceremony and encouraging the people of Hanesti-Ruska to follow their king and the Pontiff into battle. [4]
