The languages of the peoples of Aos and Eos are many and more; with various cultures, races, and species all with their own unique forms of communication and varied languages. A majority of languages are apart of a language family which is a group of languages related through descent from a common ancestral language or parental language, called the proto-language of that family. These proto-language are the eldest of all language which all related languages branch from.

A multi-species discourse in a busy tavern.

Proto-Languages

Common

The Common Tongue, also known as Common, is known by near all of the people of Aos and Eos and is the primary language of inter-social relations between civilized groups. Common was the language employed by the Four Brothers, though many traditions maintain that to be untrue and Common to simply be the representation of a heavily altered dialect of the ancient language.

Ancient Elven

Ancient Elven, also known as Elvish, is the ancient language the Elves developed during the second generation of Malin's children. During this period Elvish was almost exclusively spoken by the Elves.

Dwed

Dwed, also known as Dwarvish, is the ancient language of the Dwarves. In the olden days it was often used among members of the upper Dwarven caste to speak among one another until Dormin Doomforged transcribed it for the general populace to learn. It never became the primary method of communication among the common Dwarf, but it is still often used today in official Dwavern affairs.

Old Blah

Old Blah is the ancient language of the Orcs.

Flexio

Flexio, also known as High Imperial, is the language of the Canonist Church, and is believed to be the language of the Aenguls and Daemons. It is a difficult language to master and is only spoken by a privileged minority, and is very rarely employed in day-to-day use, having been supplanted almost entirely by Common, which is believed to be distantly derived from it.

Narvaukiaan

Narvaukiaan, also known as Old Norlandic, is the ancient language of the Red Faith. It is a runic language which is known primarily by the Keeper of the Red Faith.

Li-Wen

Li-Wen is vastly different from any existing languages, borrowing greatly from the Hou-zi in its use of characters and pronunciation. Words are often made of a combination of up to three syllables in phonetics, with five different inflections. Li-Wen is tonal; tones must be correct in order to convey the correct meaning.
