John Roswell (6th of the Deep Cold, 1530 – 23rd of the First Seed, 1558) was the last Duke of Istria from 1549 to 1558. Known as seclusive and a frequent wencher, John's rule as duke drained the Istrian economy and led to its downfall as a militaristic and economical power. He also frequently fought with his brother William Roswell (which he would later have captured and executed on orders of John II) and the de Capua scion Vitallius de Capua, who would be investitured as Count of Lewes despite John's greatest efforts.
John later fell at the Sack of Seahelm in 1558, killed by an arrow to the eye from an unknown archer. His ducal title would pass to the Holy Orenian Emperor and his liege Emperor John II. He left no issue, formally ending the Roswell line patrilineally.
