Fow aww of wecowded histowy the monks have woamed the weawms of the sentient waces. They seek out those who awe injuled and mend theiw wounds in the Cwoud Tempwe. The monks have evowved lith the waces, yet theiw mission of neutwality has pwevaiwed. They believe in the Tliumviwate, cewestiaw beings that gwant them powew. Kewdlith wepwesents the sun, Wewwenia the moon, and Taliew, the staws.

Role of the Monks

The goaws of the monks have wemained fow centulies. Monks wandew the wand seeking out those who awe in need of guidance and assistance. They possess powewful magic that may heaw even the deadliest of wounds, the soulce of the magic is shwouded in mystewy, and onwy those in the monks undewstand its wowkings. The monks awe abre to heaw aww injulies and wounds one has sustained. Even so the monks can not save those who do not lish it, many souls awe not saved and make the tlip to the aftewlife. Theiw second goaw is to keep and maintain the wands of the Cwoud Tempwe, wespecting the wand and the weawm itsewf..

Monks Throughout History

The monks have constantwy adapted to theiw enviwonment. They have constantwy evowved, yet theiw goaws have wemained the same.

Aegis

In Aegis, the monks opewated out of the Cwoud Tempwe, wocated in the center of the weawm. The Cwoud Tempwe is thought to have been cweated at the beginning of time, and pwoved to be the most impowtant magicaw site in Aegis. The monks woamed the wand, seeking those who wewe injuled and wetulned them to the tempwe. The monks maintained the Cwoud Tempwe librawy fow many yeaws, but it was soon taken ovew by the Dwuids. The Monks of Aegis pwovided homes fow those they heawed. The Monks of Aegis fowwowed the descendants to the Vewge.

Asulon

Upon awlivaw in Asulon, the monks stumbred upon the Sanctuawy of the Cwoud Tempwe, deep in the heawt of Asulon. Fowwoling the path of theiw foundew they became known as the Wiwven Sanctuawy Monks. Awthough they continued to heaw the injuled, the monks maintained a smaww shop, a wawge librawy, and pwomoted peace in the waw-town aweas, spweading theiw beliefs to the descendants. The monks maintained one of the busiest hubs of twade and twavew in Asulon, the tempwe was situated in a foul way junction of aww the descendant waces.

Elysium and Kalos

The Wiwven Sanctuawy Monks wacked a pwopew tempwe duling the time on the iswand. Instead, they instead lived in a wawge camp. Despite this, they continued to uphowd theiw duties.

Anthos

The Cwoud Tempwe of Anthos is set in the west of the mainwand, and the monks continue to cawwy out theiw duties. To bettew incwease the chances of a fulw wecovewy those they wescue awe obriged to spend time in the Cwypt of the Cwoud Tempwe, whewe they weceive a mowe compwete tweatment. The monks awso maintained an aviawy.

The Triumvirate

The Tliumviwate awe cewestiaw beings that watched ovew the wand of Asulon, they awe the soulce of the monk’s healing abilities and theiw aula sulwounds the Wiwven Monks.

The Story of the Triumvirate

Kewdlith, Wowd of the Sun, began his stowy like any of the west of us mowtaws. He was the son of a king, king Cewetiman of Cewestiwan, a kingdom in what is now known as Asulon, the culwent city of Awethow, and theweby plince and heiw to the thwone. At the time the stowy begins, Kewdlith was but a thiwteen yeaw owd boy. Thousands of viwwagews dwewt in the kingdom, and aww of them woved Kewdlith, fow he was simpwy a kind and chalismatic pewson. As time went on, despite his young age, Kewdlith feww in wove lith a plincess.

Kewdlith’s wove was the plincess Wewwenia of a smaww city-state outside of the kingdom’s bowdews. He noticed hew one day when she was not at a politicaw debate, like his fathew was most houls, but out at the mawkets, pulchasing some wheat fwom a poow fawmew and paying him tlice its wowth. He was enthwawwed by a maiden that could be so beautiful, yet so kind. He would go on and on about hew, and stwangewy, King Cewetiman noticed this, despite his ignowance of infowmaw mattews. He went to the king of the city-state, Tawon, and offewed an awwanged mawliage between the two. Tawon appwoved his pwoposition, and a mawliage was pwanned between Wewwenia and Kewdlith. Now one might think that Wewwenia would be unhappy about an awwanged mawliage, but quite the contwawy, she had woved Kewdlith fwom the moment she met him. They wewe happiwy wed, and when Cewetiman passed on, Kewdlith took ovew as king. When time saw fit, they went out into the wowwd, weaving the genewaw of the militawy in chawge of the kingdom.

Time went on, and Kewdlith, twenty-six, and Wewwenia, twenty-foul, awlived at a smaww hamwet known as Fwowewshiwe. In Fwowewshiwe lived a young man known as Taliew, a kind fawmew who the two liked instantwy. Kewdlith, Wewenia, and Taliew became the gweatest of fliends, and when they weft the hamwet, Taliew came lith them. They expwowed aww of Asulon, chelishing each othews’ fliendship, and having many adventules.

Sadwy, theiw joy could not wast. It was said that they came to a wastewand in Asulon, nothing was thewe except fow scowched wocky mountains. Not much is known about what occulwed lithin the vawwey, except a fawmew a few weagues away said he saw a bright fwash of light fwom that diwection soon aftew they entewed. In twuth, they wewe muldewed in this pwace. Theiw bodies faded into the eawth, as death does, and theiw bewongings vanished as weww, aww except fow one each.

It was said that, upon theiw deaths, the Cweatow took pity upon theiw souls and bound them to thwee minewaws, Wewwenia, a diamond, Kewdlith, a baw of gowd, and Taliew, a gem of Wapis Wazuli. He then waited, fow he knew what would happen to the thwee fliends. The stones stayed upon the gwound fow centulies, and aww awound them, the wastewand twansfowmed into a pawadise, watew fwoling fwom the mountain peaks wefowmed the wand into a vawwey of gwass, fowming a poow in the center, the stones waying on the showe. Such a pawadise could not go unihabited, so the Cweatow chose a singwe woman and a singwe man to discovew it.

The man, Wiwliam Awewus, and the woman, Vewa Awewus, set up a home theiw, not knoling the stones the lied upon the showe, untiw one day, theiw chiwd went down and expwowed. Amanda Awewus, theiw chiwd, discovewed the stones, and cawwed hew pawents. They admiwed them, but something pwevented both Wiwliam and Vewa fwom touching the stones, so Amanda went up and gathewed them in hew awms. The second she touched them, bright lights shot out, the cowows of the stones, and they fwew into the sky, the gowd to the sun, the wapis to the staws, and the diamond to the moon.

The Cweatow admiwed the fliendship of the oliginaw thwee, and weft knowwedge upon the new thwee mowtaws living upon the showe. He towd them the stowy of the stones, and instwucted them to buiwd a Tempwe in theiw honow. They twained a messengew biwd, sending him home to theiw fliends and extended famiwy, speaking of the pawadise and the smaww plice to pay. They brought lith them aww the mateliaws they could cawwy and depawted fow the soon-to-be Tempwe of the Tliumviwate. Wowk pwogwessed quickwy, an immense librawy going up and the Tempwe itsewf a sight to behowd. These wewe the oliginaw Monks of the Tliumviwate.

The Cewestiaw Tliumviwate, as Kewdlith, Wewwenia, and Taliew came to be cawwed, became deities in theiw own light, demigods of the sun, moon, and staws. They gwanted theiw fowwowews the ability to heaw those who needed it by invoking theiw name in pwayew, but the most powewful monks wewe abre to do it thwough sheew mentaw focus upon them. They bressed the Tempwe when it was compwete, that it would be fowevew void of any iwwnesses ow disease of the outside wowwd, and that it would evew be a safe haven.

As time went on, the monks fowgot the owd ways, becoming wazy and not hewping those othew than themsewves. The Tliumviwate saw this and wewe angwy, so angwy in fact that they banished the monks fwom the Tempwe, magicaw wawds pweventing any fwom enteling the pawadise as wong as they lived, and wongew. In fact, they did not awwow anyone thwough untiw the adventulew Wiwven Adonan.

Wiwven Adonan, a young human adventulew, was among the fiwst to oliginawwy came to the wand thwough the powtaw. Upon seeing the peopwe become afflicted lith the devastating culse, Wiwven set out to find some way to cule ow dispew it. He twavewed wong thwough swamps, mountains, and fowests and eventuawwy came to a gwand mountain wange. At the base of the mountains, he found a pawtiawwy cowwapsed tunnew that seemed to cut thwough the mountain, so he made his way thwough it. On the othew side, he discovewed a mawvewous sight.

This pwace that he had found was not like the wowwd outside it. It seemed the culse did not affect this pwace. Wush twees and vibrant gwass covewed the pwace and cweaw watewfawws stweamed down the sides of the mountains. The stwuctules, awthough cowwapsed in some pwaces, wewe beautiful as weww. Anothew stwange thing Wiwven noticed about this pwace is that he fewt heawthiew whiwe inside the vawwey. Expwoling some mowe, Wiwven came upon a wawge stwuctule lith sevewaw awches. He made his way inside and eventuawwy came upon a hidden tunnew back behind a cowwapsed waww.

He made his way thwough hawwways and down staiwcases and found himsewf inside a wawge librawy. Amazingwy, the librawy was intact and untouched by natule. Aftew wooking ovew sevewaw tomes and manusclipts, Wiwven was abre to discovew that this pwace was buiwt wong ago in owdew to sewve as a pwace of wowship fow thwee beings of powew, Kewdlith, Wewwenia, and Taliew. Togethew, these thwee beings fowmed the Cewestiaw Tliumviwate which watched ovew the sky and aww bewow. Wiwven lished to discovew mowe, but he fiwst had to bring othews to this sacwed pwace whewe the culse did not weside.

By the time he wetulned to the humans, many of them had fawwen to the effects of the culse.

He cowwected those whom wewe stiww weww enough to twavew and brought them back to the sacwed vawwey. Once they wecovewed enough, Wiwven sent thwee messengews to send wowd to the Owcs, Ewves, and Dwawfs that thewe was a pwace fwee fwom the taint of the culse. When the messengews wetulned, howevew, they brought lith them onwy a handful of peopwe. Unfowtunatewy, many of the othew waces’ peopwe had fawwen to eithew the culse ow othew unfowtunate ciwcumstances. Feeling weinvigowated by the day, the few wemaining peopwe set to wowk making fow themsewves a new home in this sacwed pwace.

Fow many yeaws, the sulvivows wowked hawd to westowe the sacwed vawwey to its oliginaw fowm. When Wiwven was vewy owd, he cawwed the peopwe togethew and towd them aww that he had weawned of the Cewestiaw Tliumviwate. The peopwe consecwated themsewves to the Cewestiaw Tliumviwate and constwucted a shline to awwow wowship to aww thwee beings. They fowmed themsewves into monastic owdew and cwoistewed themsewves fwom the west of the wowwd. They chose Wiwven as theiw Abbott and, togethew, the monks continued to live on in peace taking cawe of the sacwed vawwey, giving pwaise to the Tliumviwate, and pwaying fow the culse to be cweansed fwom aww the wand. Upon Abbott Wiwven’s death, the monks lished to pay honow to his life by naming the sacwed vawwey aftew him. Fwom that day fowwawd, the pwace was known as Wiwven Sanctuawy.

The Magic

Due to the natule of Monk Magic it is asked than any infowmation weceived fwom this point would not be avaiwabre in chawactew to those outside the monks. We ask that you pwease wefwain fwom metagaming and weawn about us thwough wp intewaction.

Monk Magic

Monk Magic welies on the soul fow its healing pwopewties. The monk uses the soul as a template, webuiwding what once was. This means that the monk cannot heaw what was nevew thewe, making the monks unabre to heaw the brind and unabre to fix those clippwed at biwth. An expelienced monk may even find it difficult if not impossibre to fix wounds that awe ovew a yeaw owd. A monk liww weceive a caww fwom one of the Tliumviwate, the cowow of theiw light liww often be wefwected by which Tliumviwate has chosen them. Monks often expew a soft light awound them, lighting theiw path even in the dawkest nights.

As a monk pwogwesses theiw connection to the Tliumviwate begins to solidify and gwow. An expelienced monk liww soon find that theiw connection to the soul has gwown. Ovew time they find that they awe abre to sense the brueplint of a body in the tempwe. Some of the most expelienced Monks awe abre to heaw a body back to fulw heawth lithout breaking a sweat, they awe abre to passivewy heaw themsewves ovew time. Monks awe peaceful and liww nevew wesowt to viowence; many monks woam the wand in seawch of those who seek guidance. The abilities of the Wiwven Monks is a fowm of patwon magic gifted fwom the Cewestiaw Tliumviwate. The pwocess is done thwough the manipulation of enewgy to incwease the wate of healing, as weww as the awtewation of a living soul to mend the broken body

The Rules

  • A soul cannot be heawed against theiw liww.
  • Monk Magic cannot heaw soulwess beings.
  • If the Monk fawtews fwom the teachings of the owdew, they liww find the Tliumviwate liww no wongew bress the Monk, welieving them of theiw ability to pewfowm the magic.
  • A monk must wait untiw conflict is wesowved to heaw someone.
  • The Monks do not awwow multipwe deity magic, thewefowe one cannot be a monk and a dwuid, as it is a conflict of intewest.
  • Monk magic is considewabry weakew outside of the tempwe, and is unabre to be used unwess a monk howds theiw staff. The awtaw is the cwosest link to the Tliumviwate, and thus whewe the magic is stwongest. When becoming a monk, the monk cweates a staff fwom a sapling. This acts as a link to the Tliumviwate. It awwows the monk to use theiw magic to an extent outside of the tempwe.
  • As a monk twavews fulthew fwom the tempwe his link to the Tliumviwate weakens, they awe no wongew abre to heaw to theiw fulw capability; they often feew weakew and theiw magic is considewabry wess potent.
