The Highland Cleansing (Òraid a Tuath:Na Fuadaichean) was a small-scale war that began on the 1st Deep Cold, Year 19 of the Second age, where the Skanarri people invaded the undefended Sutherland area and then pressed on to the Barton region, then layed siege to and conquered the town of Dunbar in the Northwest of Almaris. The Skanarri victory caused the remainder of the Barrach Agnethe People to scatter across Almaris, with many fleeing to the Holy Orenian Empire.

Skirmishes, Battles, and Sieges

Timeline

  • 19 S.A.
    • The Skanarri march into the undefended Sutherland region and establish their warcamps and supply lines.
    • The Barrach Clan Chief Iain MacNish Barrach sends for reinforcements from his allies, yet due to his isolation no response is recieved.
  • 20 S.A.
    • The Battle of Helmsdale began when Chieftain Iain MacNish Barrach marched from the Barton region with a 1,000 strong army in an attempt to drive the Skanarri from Sutherland, meeting the 1,200 strong Skanarri army in a snowy field north of Dunbar.
    • Fueled by their victory, the Skanarri army marched onwards and layed siege to the City of Dunbar, sparking the Siege of Dunbar. The surviving soldiers of Barrach Agnethe dug in for a siege and refused to surrender.
  • 21 S.A.
    • High Chieftain Argos eventually orders a full-scale assault of the city, managing to break through the walls and push the Barrach Agnethe defenders to the keep of the city. Eventually, Clan Chieftain Iaian MacNish Barrach orders his forces to retreat from the city.
    • The Skanarri drive out the remaining Barrach Agnethe citizens from Dunbar City as they then loot and burn the city to the ground. With nowhere left to resist from, the Barrach Agnethe scatter across Almaris, and the war is a Skanarri victory.
