The Battle of Helmsdale was the opening and decisive battle of The Highland Cleansing between the Chieftainship of Dunbar and the United Skanarri Tribes. The victory of the Skanarri tribes over the Dunbar army led to the significant weakening of Dunbar forces and was immediately followed by the Siege of Dunbar. The Skanarri victory gave the United Tribes a massive morale boost as they pressed their invasion of the Chieftainship.
